A Dark Brown White House? Â Does anyone know why the White House Gingerbread House is dark brown this year? Â In the past I have loved the White House Christmas decorations, with the big White House gingerbread house being the highlight. Â This year our beautiful White House has been transformed to dark brown/Black. Â Anyone know why? Â Perhaps a new, colorblind, baker?

Normally the White House was made out of white chocolate. It is made out of dark chocolate with white chocolate in areas of the house.
When I worked in the White House during the both Reagan and Bush administrations and worked all the Christmas events there was always a beautiful Crèche in the east room. I haven’t been in the Whitehouse since those earlier years and was wondering if the Obamas have a Crèche on the state floor?
Dark chocolate? So the Obama team made their White House out of one of the most bitter and unpopular chocolates around? Fitting.
A Crèche? Was that to represent baby Jesus?
Yes. According to the press release on it. As far as the crèche it does represent the birth of Jesus.
I like that. A touching show of the faith of those two presidents and their families, as well as a savvy political move. Since they did it with a Crèche, a symbol of innocence and new life, which fits Jesus perfectly, even they left couldn’t complain about it.
It’s been different colors over the years. I believe they did a red one in the early 2000’s.
At least it looks like it’s made of Gingerbread.
I can never figure out why it’s not red.
