A Big Step Toward
Free Market Healthcare
Insurance Across State Lines
SUPPORT HB 2233
BIG INSURANCE and BIG MEDICINE
[BIG Campaign Donors]
are Trying to Kill This Bill!
Don’t Let That Happen!
HB 2233 has passed the House. A wonderful first step toward free market healthcare for the Commonwealth. The ability to purchase health insurance across state lines is an important part of every credible free market healthcare plan. With interstate competition, Virginians would be more likely to find a policy that fits their budget, giving more people access to affordable insurance from more insurers who offer a wide array of policy options. The bill protects consumers by including provisions for registration, disclosure, marketing, and financial condition. Virginians could select a plan that satisfies their personal healthcare needs and no longer be limited to plans which must meet the [sometimes ridiculous] requirements of bureaucrats!Â
HB 2233 – SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE: Health benefit plans offered by foreign health insurers. Authorizes any foreign health insurer to sell individual or group health benefit plans in the Commonwealth if it is approved to sell such plans in the foreign health insurer’s domiciliary state. The measure establishes requirements applicable to such benefit plans, including provisions for registration, disclosure, marketing, and financial condition.Â
HB 2233 is on the Senate Commerce and Labor committee docket for Monday afternoon.  Call or email and tell the committee you want free market healthcare and to please pass this bill!  Let your Senator know that when this bill comes to the floor, you are asking him to vote YES!  (Emails are not guaranteed to be read on a timely basis, therefore we recommend calls. You are able to leave voicemail after hours and on weekends).

“A statewide coalition of freedom groups”

[…] Ben Cline put forth a bill, HB 2233, (that we reported on yesterday), that would have given Virginians the choice to buy health insurance across state lines. This […]
What a pretty logo. Which ‘freedom groups’ are in the ‘statewide coalition?’ Do the nine stars mean there are nine groups?
I chose the logo. Ignore that stuff and focus on the message I am conveying.
Is this the same group that opposed Party Registration? What other issues are “they” recommending?
IDK, you’ll have to do your own research on that, but I sure hope they oppose Party Registration.
Rhetorical question.
GOP Party Registration Nays:
Dick Black, Ben Chafin, Amanda Chase, Emmet Hanger, Steve Newman, Richard Stuart, Jill Vogel, and Frank Wagner.
Last time around, there was only one.
I heard Tea Party ‘flavor of the month’ wanted Party Registration voted down.
Can anybody explain else the strange bedfellows above voting no?
I’m puzzled about this whole idea of buying insurance out of state. What makes people think the cost will be lower? Wouldn’t the cost be reflective of the health data where you live instead of where you buy? Who’s to say the insurance wouldn’t go up in the lower cost area simply because Virginians created more demand there?
Simply moving the demand from one area to another creates an opportunity to increase fees for the new service. You could end up paying even more.
Because monopoly
See cable tv, electric power, etc, where you live
So you think that buying cable from company A in Alabama is going to be cheaper than buying cable from company A in Virginia? And I remember back when electric was deregulated. How did that work out? Still paying Dominion right? And what ever happened to all those $9.99 a month Internet Service Providers? They are almost as rare as FidoNet users.
Good luck with that whole competition thing. I hope it works out for you, but please remember that the word buyout comes before competition and consumer in the New Globalist dictionary.
Competition makes things cheaper and better.
