The name Andrew McCabe is a familiar one in Loudoun county. Â In 2015 his wife, Dr. Jill McCabe, Â ran for state Senator against Senator Dick Black. Despite spending twice as my much money as her opponent, Democrat McCabe lost 52% to 47%. Now that FBI director Comey has been fired, Andrew McCabe will be the acting FBI director. Â But he is not without his own problems.
In 2015 Democrats in Loudoun County were supporting Colonel Tom Mulrine to be their nominee against Senator Black. Â However, Governor McAuliffe was having none of that and inserted Jill McCabe into the race. McAuliffe went on to support McCabe’s campaign with his PAC, Common Good VA, contributing $467,500. Â The Democrat party of Virginia contributed over $407K, and Planned Parenthood contributed another $167K.
McAuliffe, the Clintons, and the McCabes have been very close which caused speculation among Republicans. From The Loudoun Times in October 2016:
Virginia Republicans are suggesting McAuliffe, whose political action committee gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to the McCabe, was in effect buying favors from the FBI because McCabe’s husband, Andrew, worked for and is now a deputy director at bureau.
“Given all we know about how the corrupt Clinton machine operates, it’s hard not to see this as anything other than a down payment to influence the FBI’s criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server,†Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Preibus said in a statement.
The FBI pushed back against that assertion in a statement to the Journal. Andrew McCabe, according to the statement, “played no role, attended no events, and did not participate in fundraising or support of any kind. Months after the completion of her campaign, then-Associate Deputy Director McCabe was promoted to deputy, where, in that position, he assumed for the first time, an oversight role in the investigation into Secretary Clinton’s emails.â€
Right. Andrew McCabe played no role and attended no events for his wife although we have evidence to the contrary:
Yes, Andrew McCabe is a strong Democrat who campaigned with his wife during her failed run for state Senate, despite the fact he is not permitted to be involved in partisan politics under the Hatch Act.
Governor McAuliffe and Virginia Democrats give Jill McCabe $800,000+.  McAuliffe and the Clintons are BFF’s. McCabe is involved in the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s emails, and is now appointed FBI Acting Director.  We previously connected some of those dots here.  Senator Black called on Andrew McCabe to resign.Â
Andrew McCabe is a partisan and should not be the Acting Director of the FBI!
