Antifa in Practice

written by Dr. Robert Warren August 17, 2017

In my previous article, I described the history and activities of Antifa. There is no question that its presence is found in almost all of the recent riots around the country.  The question is how is Antifa able to be involved more or less everywhere, and how have they been able to commit violence without significant punishment.

The Antifas in the USA are not highly centralized, and this is consistent with their counterparts in Europe.  Nevertheless, using advances in the internet, Antifas can rapidly communicate, organize and mobilize to attack a chosen target.  (All of this can be done within hours and is similar to the flash mobs that sprung up seemingly out of nowhere.)

The Antifas have allied themselves with a variety of grievance groups.  Black Lives Matter was present at the recent Charlottesville riot, but Antifa has also coordinated locally with leftist student groups on various campuses, anti-Trump operatives of the Democrat Party, and almost any group that has some type of complaint about the laws and the Constitution of the USA.  In every instance, antifa is part of the violent center of what otherwise might be just a noisy peaceable assembly.

The most dangerous part of the antifa situation is that the Democrat Party leadership has and continues to hide, excuse and even laud the behavior of the antifas.  While the Republican leadership vigorously and consistently condemns the neo-Nazis and the KKK, the Democrat leadership consistently changes the conversation on antifa violence.  (Apparently, the alt-left can do no wrong and, if it does, well the alt-right is worse.)  It appears that antifa is essential to the functioning of the Democrat Party.

There will be more protests, and antifa will be there to ensure that violence occurs and is staged in such a way that the media does not put its behavior in a negative light.  Add to this politicized policing and the deliberate distortions by public officials on the left, and future injury, death, and destruction are certain.  It is absolutely essential that American citizens continuously call out this calumny on the part of Democrats if we want to reestablish a semblance of a civil and lawful society.
