Many in the mainstream media are fawning over themselves regarding Biden’s “masterful†handling of the current crisis in Ukraine. Let us face the facts – the Ukraine Crisis is a direct result of President Biden’s weak foreign policy and underscores how his feckless appeasement of Russia over the past year has failed miserably. A robust policy of deterrence, like maintaining the Trump administration’s sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 might have prevented the crisis. In 1994 President Clinton by the Budapest Agreement pledged to protect the sovereignty of Ukraine in exchange for them dismantling their nuclear arsenal. President Biden has not stood by this pledge nor even acknowledges it exists.
The thing about deterrence is that you have to use it before your opponent makes his move. Russian forces are now on the ground and they’re probably there to stay. The time to get tough on Moscow and prevent a clash with Ukraine has passed. Sanctions, whether from the U.S. or from the European Union, are not going to force Putin to change his mind and retreat. Instead, these half-measures will give us the worst possible outcome: all the downsides of an actual military conflict, which is now certain, without the preceding benefits of deterrence.
But for any of that to happen, the United States needed to have a firm, steady hand in its dealings with Moscow. In this, Biden failed miserably, coming into office with a lot of bluster about how he was going to take a firm line on Putin, that he alone knew how to deal with Moscow. During the 2020 campaign, Biden even suggested, ludicrously, that Putin didn’t want him to become president because of “how tough Biden would be on him.â€
This episode is reminiscent of the Obama administration’s handling of the Syrian civil war. Not just the weakness of President Obama’s embarrassing “red line†fiasco but also his refusal to do anything militarily to weaken the Assad regime before calling for a negotiated settlement.
So, at the end of the day, it is appearing that we as a nation are willing to write off and justify sacrificing the lives of innocent men, women, and children of Ukraine for the sanctity of NATO. The President of Ukraine and many of its citizens are of the Jewish faith yet we are willing to sacrifice them for NATO members who cozy up to Russia and refuse to pay their fair share. What ever happened to “Never Again
The words of my former boss SECDEF Robert Gates continue to be prescient “ I think Biden has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.â€
Biden’s “masterful†diplomatic engagement – I think not. I pray this ends well but suspect as a realist it will only get worse before it gets better. We have abdicated our role as the leader of the free world to a tyrant who has no morals or principles in his quest to restore the former Soviet Union. A very sad day in our history and I hang my head in shame.

The globalist idiot Erica is a good example of the stupidity of the average person in this country. He thinks it is a matter of Biden… defending Biden etc. Biden means jack shit here Eric. There is a worse issue for this stupid country, Erica… Putin just changed the world order… He changed the rules of the game that were being dictated in Europe… spare the Ukrainian sovereignty for a moment… We are witnessing Putin and the Russians upsetting the apple cart in a way that is leading to who knows where… He doesn’t give a crap about the US or Europe… He thinks it weak enough and toothless…
There are some nasty things coming Europe and the US’ way… credit to Tom Luongo…
“Cutting Russia out of SWIFT would mean the end of the EU as anyone has known it or wishes it could be in the future. It would mean the end of the petrodollar system.
Russia is too systemically important to the global commodity trade that goes far beyond energy. It supplies not only the marginal barrel of oil and BTU of natural gas, but pound of nickel, palladium, titanium, enriched uranium and tungsten. It’s a major supplier of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, potash, and urea.
Do this and Europe not only freezes to death with their three days of gas reserves but starves once the global food supply is disrupted. Do this and Biden enters the mid-terms with $8/gallon gas, and 20% real inflation.”
The end of the petrodollar… that one should send shivers up the spine of anyone with a brain… it means that the welfare state is done. We have to borrow to finance our state… the one where we have trade deficits everywhere and have to borrow money to finance the whole damn thing.
A whole generation of political and financial scum have led the US to this path that the Russians are now exploiting. Well… hopefully the Deep State and Davos can fight Putin back… probably by threatening China with financial sanctions if they support Putin.. but this is not certain. China would like to be rid of Davos and the Deep State too..
This is an interesting time…
I remember when our leaders made unfulfilled commitments to another country. It didn’t turn out well for them either.
The past 20 years have shown NATO to be as ineffective as the UN. A League of Nations and a modern day Maginot Line.
Erica… I fact checked you asswipe…. Looks like the US is no longer a net exporter:
Soon after Biden took office, the Energy Information Agency reported that the United States would begin importing more oil than it would export for 2021 and 2022. On January 27 of this year, Biden drafted an executive order largely affected the oil and gas industry. The order included the following guidelines:
Halted new oil and gas leases on federal onshore lands such as national parks and offshore waters (however, this did not affect tribal lands)
Directed the Secretary of the Interior to consider adjusting coal, oil and gas royalties to “account for corresponding climate costs†(i.e., the industry expected increased royalties)
Suspended new leases, contracts, or drilling permits for at least 60 days
Withdrew the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline
Tippy… wrong again… “Following its historic shift to being a net exporter of petroleum in 2020, the United States continued to export more petroleum (which includes crude oil, refined petroleum products, and other liquids) than it imported in 2021 – Source: EIA- Feb 18, 2022. We shall see about 2022 (which isn’t over yet, y’know) but as of the last data we are a net exporter. You do know that throughout the entire previous administration we were a net importer… you know that, correct…?? You also know, I am sure, that Keystone XL was to increase imports of Canadian crude… you know that, too… right…?
Not anymore Erica.

The U.S. will import more oil than it exports in 2022, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Friday.
That’s this year shit for brains… when the Russian oil will be taken off the market…
Erica..I am curious how did you make so much money to live in Lowdown county being such a dumbass? You can’t be a lawyer… as your law discussions come from Media Matter bullshit… so that leaves gumment contractor…

“So… that means that we too are dependent on now Saudi oil just like Europe.â€
Ummm.. Tippy, the US is a net petroleum exporter, y’know…
Geez Erica… I wonder why gas is now at 3.45 and rising, shit for brains? And why did Biden ask the Saudis to pump and why did he release the Strategic Oil Reserves… Even if you are a somewhat petroleum exporter… and the level is falling… it is a world wide supply. Oil doesn’t stay here it goes on the world wide market to the highest bidder. Where did you work Shit for Brains? A gumment agency?
Trump withheld military aid to Ukraine. Several Trumpian Republicans voted against military aid to Ukraine. Trump undermined NATO and our commitment to it. And who can forget this one:
“President Donald Trump disclosed highly classified information to Russia’s foreign minister about a planned Islamic State operation, two U.S. officials said on Monday, plunging the White House into another controversy just months into Trump’s short tenure in office.
The intelligence, shared at a meeting last week with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, was supplied by a U.S. ally in the fight against the militant group, both officials with knowledge of the situation said.â€
Even now Trump and his followers can’t find enough backbone to unequivocally call out Putin for his invasion of Ukraine. Instead, Putin is a “geniusâ€â€¦
Facts matter…
Erica..unless you were willing to arm Ukraine to the teeth with your most advanced weapon systems… and at least F16s in the hundreds… and advanced artillery systems plus radar etc etc etc… It would have taken a colossal amount of armament to stop the Russian. And you are screwing with a nuclear power when you do so… Ukraine is on their border also. Another military problem for you if you think you could stop them. They have what is known as internal lines of communication and supply… Obama sent as you recall humanitarian aid when the Russians re took Crimea.. And I don’t blame him. His DOS f.cked around their led by the likes of Victoria Nuland and the rest of Neocon central… and here’s where the poor Ukranians are.. left out to be killed.
As many countries have found out… don’t trust the neocons….
A few key issues,
1) Where is Germany going to get natural gas without Putin? They’re not.
2) The Trump sanctions on Nord Stream 2, as the pipeline line was not finished at that time, what good did the sanction do? None, absolutely none. Which president sanctioned Nord Stream 1? Same answer, none.
Europe needs Putin’s gas.
3) Is the Ukraine better of without NATO, by giving Putin his no NATO, guarantee. Or, is it better off now? Easy answer.
4) Biden desperately needed this foreign “incident†to take the focus away from his complete, total, absolute, domestic failures. And, Pelosi has done just as I predicted she would, burned down everything she didn’t destroy in 2010.
5) The media, every day, is now trying to paint a picture of Ukraine victory over Putin and the Russian military. Is that a lie? Is anything the media reports true? The same media that made George Floyd a national hero???? Was that true?
A very key issue is now that Russia is getting kicked out of SWIFT… did you know that is located in Culpeper?… energy costs are going to skyrocket. For YOU. Not just Europe. Our glorious retard leader and his party have decided that we are going to go to windmills and solar panels and cut oil leases… there is a long term lag in production from oil fields even if President Dumbass reversed policy today.
So… that means that we too are dependent on now Saudi oil just like Europe. China just got a new dedicated supplier…
Remember when Dopey Joe asked the Saudis to pump more oil to save him and his party?
They said quote: No… we like the current price!!!
How high could oil go? it is already damn near at impossible prices in England. And there is also the possibility of shortages… This is not quite but similar to the OPEC embargo in the 1970s. Or it could be… we shall see.. You can bet the Democrats will be pump pump pumping and frack frack fracking… those shitbirds want to saved their asses. the global warming bullshit be damned..
As to the Ukraine winning… no. Unless NATO intervenes or rather the US intervenes as NATO would have trouble holding a full dress parade… The Russians are being a bit more delicate than they would otherwise be. There are plenty of ethnics Russians in the Ukraine… and people don’t know jack shit about anything beyond the mental capacity of Joe Biden here. It’s a complicated region with thousands of years of history. It is not a good idea to send anymore arms into that country I would say… it just prolongs the blood shed.
Well, I would disagree with you. We were never energy independent regarding crude oil. When Republicans were saying we were finally energy independent, we were using over a million barrels each day of Saudi Oil. Fracking brings down oil prices by flooding the market with oil. However, the LLC fracking companies twice now have started up fracking production to a large scale via bank financing. Once fracking production goes up, the price of crude comes down. Now, when that happens, the Saudi’s bombard the market with cheap crude which lowers the price of crude below a price where frackers can make a profit. You see, it costs more to frack than use conventional methods. So, the frackers bankrupt their LLC operations and leave the banks on the hook for the money they loaned the frackers to start up. Frackers are LLC’s so they cannot be held responsible to any large degree for fracking damage, and they can go bankrupt without much trouble. I doubt you can find a big oil company involved in fracking in the USA, I cannot. They do not want the liability for the chemicals used for fracking and the increase in earthquakes associated with fracking.
The answer is to get away from crude. The price and supply is just to unstable. The Saudi’s are king of crude, and they control the price. It’s been no secret that they want $100-110 for a barrel of crude. Their oil minister said that years ago on TV one Sunday morning.
Trump cut a deal with Saudi Arabia for a massive weapons buy his first two months in office. Trump kissed their asses for cheap crude. Non sustainable.
You too are being bull shited by the left wing main stream media. No country can win a war against Russia without any air force. Ukraine does not have an air force. Therefore, they will lose. I wish it were no so. But, that is a fact.
