With the Virginia election just a week away, large donations to individual Virginia candidates must be disclosed on an expedited basis.
What these disclosures tend to show is how much confidence outside groups have that their large donations will be capable of having an impact on the outcome. This year? They show that John Adams is poised to unseat the lawless Mark Herring as Virginia’s next attorney general.
The Virginia Public Access Project has just posted large last minute contributions made as of yesterday. Those contributions include $7,481 for Mark Herring, from the Virginia League of Conservation Voters. The only contribution bigger than that?
A whopping $2.2 million single contribution to John Adams from the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA), a national GOP organization focused on top elected law enforcement officials in the 50 states.
Wow. For Republicans who thought this election was going to be a snoozer, or another disappointment, think again. Adams, together with ticket mates Jill Vogel and Ed Gillespie, is lighting up the Republican base, and demoralizing the Democrats and their lackluster candidates. This $2.2 million brings the RAGA donations to $5.5 million in total.
Mark Herring has been nervous for a long time. Now he’s positively sweating.
