As most of you are aware, there is an election coming up which will be of great consequence to the good people of Frederick County. We’re talking about the Stonewall District Supervisor seat this coming November. And I’m asking that you vote for my good friend Chad DeHaven. Chad DeHaven has lived in Frederick his entire life, and knows the County and its needs better than anyone. Chad is a fiscal conservative and will do his best to ensure that your tax dollars are well spent and looked after. Chad has been involved in local outreach for decades now. Chad is also a member of the Frederick County Planning Commission – so he will take office already being aware of issues that a Supervisor will face in the years to come.
Maybe most important is the fact that, according to his own words, Chad’s opponent has already promised to raise the meals tax. An increase in the meals tax, which basically penalizes grandmothers/grandfathers taking their young charges out to eat, would do significant damage to our economy. However Mr. Oates who is an elitist who cares nothing about average ordinary working folk like you and I. All Mr. Oates cares about is what the political elite wants.
Maybe more concerning is how Mr. Oates acts towards others who do not agree with his world view. The job of an elected representative is to represent all the citizens, not just those who he or she agrees with. However Mr. Oates does not seem to think this way. I met Mr. Oates on several occasions in 2023, and it was obvious to all who care to see that Mr. Oates wanted nothing to do with anyone who disagreed with him or spoke out against him. I had several persons approach me in 2023 complaining about Mr. Oates snubbing them. And while maybe all elected representatives should do a better job of reaching out across the aisle, fact is that Mr. Oates seems to think that if a person disagrees with him, that citizen is basically a non-entity who does not exist. Just think on how that would look to residents of the Stonewall District – a majority of who likely disagree with Mr. Oates on issues important to the residents of Stonewall.
I can assure you that Chad De Haven would never act like that. Mr. DeHaven is too professional to get involved in such petty disputes.
If you want a guaranteed raise in your taxes, then vote for Gary Oates. If you want your taxes kept low and have a person who will listen to your needs and not the needs of the special interests, vote for Chad DeHaven.
