Senator Dick Black’s bill that would allow concealed carry of handguns without a permit has made it through the Senate Courts of JusticeÂ committee. SB 1440 went through the committee on a 9 to 6 vote.Â Senator Black’s bill SB1362 which allows active duty military personnel over the age of 18 to carry a concealed weapon in the Commonwealth also passed the Courts of Justice committee by the same 9 to 6 vote. Â
Of course the McAuliffe administration opposes these bills.
House bill 1582 allows active duty service members, and those who have left the service with an honorable discharge, between the ages of 18 and 21, to apply for a concealed carry permit has passed the House of Delegates on a bipartisan vote of 78-19. Â
