The Biden COVID Vaccine mandate applies directly to businesses of 100 employees or more. What are the cost implications to companies of COVID vaccination or testing. The following is a brief thought experiment on some of those costs.
VACCINATION AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
If a person is hired or employed by a company of 100 workers, managers, administrators and others, the company can certainly demand that their employees get the COVID vaccine as a condition of employment. However, the company has now assumed the liability for employee COVID vaccine side effects which can include lost productivity, injury, disability and death. Unless the government indemnifies the company for such vaccine adverse events, the liability can run from thousands to millions of dollars – and potentially put the entire company’s survival at risk.
Annual cost of insurance to cover COVID liability will be difficult to anticipate because of the unknowns involved. Insurance companies must charge to cover their risks, and corporate COVID insurance costs could suddenly increase. It is even possible that COVID employment insurance will be difficult or impossible to obtain if there happens to be an unexpected number of COVID vaccination injuries, disabilities or deaths in the company.
TESTING AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
If the average cost of a single test is $10, then the annual cost for 52 weekly tests is over $500. For 100 employees, this is $50K per year. But this does not include the cost of test monitoring or reporting the results to the government. (There is a direct cost to the company if they use a corporate employee or contractor to monitor 100 employee tests per week, keep records of each test, and fill out the required government reports.) This cost can be upwards of $100K to $200K per year, and if 100% compliance is not observed government fines are likely. And still there is the potential for someone to report COVID positive with all the liability and lost productivity implications.
One alternative is to require that each employee purchase their own COVID tests and report the results weekly to the company. (Who pays for the cost of the test items? Does the employee incur the cost or does the company reimburse the employee for the cost?) The individual COVID tests reports would then be collected by an assigned company employee or contractor and results sent to the government. This is the trust your employee method of COVID testing. Obviously, if someone reports a negative test but then suddenly tests COVID positive, the entire individual honesty process becomes suspect and who knows what liabilities would be incurred.
As I said at the beginning of this article, this is a thought experiment. I am sure that there are many other ideas regarding COVID corporate costs. My point is that there is a slippery slope here to be navigated and one that is fraught with many different perils. This, of course, is why corporate CEOs and CFOs go prematurely gray – or worse at an early age.

“The New Orleans Saints are dealing with multiple positive COVID-19 cases, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday. Pelissero reports that six assistant coaches, a team nutritionist and wide receiver Michael Thomas, who is currently on the physically unable to perform list, tested positive for the virus. The seven staff members who tested positive are vaccinated, Pelissero added. Coach Sean Payton noted during training camp that the entire staff was vaccinated.”
It will be interesting to see what the breakthrough statistics are after the first of the year. One of the reasons Biden may be pushing this now is that breakthrough hospitalizations May dominate the newsin 2022. He has built a box around this situation and there is no real way out once the truth emerges. Terrible
There is an article on Daily Wire about the deliberate mess Biden has created with his COVID mandate. Businesses are seeing millions in costs to either comply with or fight OSHA a mandates. Kind of makes Dr. Warren’s points.
Just read an interesting comment by a woman teacher complaining about elementary school kids not wearing masks properly. She goes on to say she had 3 vaccinations and caught COVID twice. I wonder – does she belong in a classroom?
Of course, she admits covid vaccines don’t work for her. She admits that she survived multiple bouts of COVID. Yet somehow masks will do the trick. Oh, by the way, it is now admitted that a large percentage of hospitalization for COVID are watch and wait mild/moderate cases for those who fit a potentially in danger criteria. In other words, the data is deliberately skewed for political purposes to keep the fear going throughout the populace.
Hey, Eric, time for another booster shot – make it a double.?
“A man who suffered a cardiac emergency died after being turned away from 43 ICUs in 3 states — all at capacity from COVID.”
Thank you, “Dr.” Warren.
And yet some in the ICUs were vaccinated. And he eventually did get an ICU bed. And, as usual, your comment has nothing to do with the article.
It has everything to do with your anti-vax “article”. That poor man died because of your Conservative anti-vax campaign. I direct result… and still… no remorse. Soulless Conservatives.
Soul means nothing to you. You are a socialist who by definition doesn’t recognize a religious concept such as a soul.
“However, the company has now assumed the liability for employee COVID vaccine side effects which can include lost productivity, injury, disability and death.”
Wow, “Dr.” Warren made it all the way to the second paragraph before turning his “article” into another of his anti-vax posts. Well done!!
You are anti-treatment and consistently post as such. You also happen to be pro-dictatorship. This article points out the obvious – Biden’s vaccine mandates come with a cost to a company as well as a concern to an employee.
David, All unvaccinated employees are being discriminated against. The apparent reason for demanding they become vaccinated is that they will infect others. Well, so can the vaccinated infect others!
This vaccine that has been cooked up to “save” us is deficient. It does not prevent infection. It does not stop infecting others. The unvaccinated are being demonized for no good reason.
Too many people are being vaccinated. Mass vaccination forces the virus to mutate. (You can’t get rid of all of them.) It wants to survive. Think about antibiotics. When too many are used, bacteria build up resistance, become worse. Same with the virus. Biden’s goal of mass vaccination is counterproductive.
Loudoun County should not require unvaccinated government workers to get the jab or settle for weekly testing.
Weekly testing of the unvaccinated is a fool’s errand. The PCR test, if that is what is used, is unreliable. It is known for high false positives. It can also pick up the flu. I believe it is to be discontinued at the end of the year. I don’t know anything about other tests.
If our Board of Supervisors goes through with the mandate, then it is purely a political decision. There is no science behind it.
The VAERS database contains information on unverified reports of adverse events (illnesses, health problems and/or symptoms) following immunization with US-licensed vaccines. The CDC government website links to VAERS platform.
In June, VAERS reported 6,985 deaths due to the COVID vaccines. Then it jumped to 11,405 in July. And now it is at 14,701 reported deaths.
Abbott labs makes a self administered home covid test for about $12 per test. Results are available within about 15 minutes. Test kits have been difficult to find because of demand but Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and Abbott have or have had them.
“In June, VAERS reported 6,985 deaths due to the COVID vaccines” I tried posting that statistic on our local Loudoun Now newspaper’s website and it was censored out. More people have died from the COVID vaccine than all other vaccines combined over the past 30 or so years. People need to know that fact. I did not know that it is now 14,701 deaths. That is a HUGE number. How can the media be so evil as to not present that statistic to the public???
Think of both the human and social cost of such numbers – and it doesn’t even include injury or disability.
And one really important point is that federal managers are not off the hook from a boatload of lawsuits against them personally:
“We want to be sure that guidance that comes from the centers of government is detailed and specific around how agencies should treat individuals” who might have medical or religious exemptions from vaccinations,” said Chad Hooper, the executive director of the Professional Managers Association, a national membership association representing managers at the IRS, told FCW.
“Federal managers are personally, civilly liable for claims of discrimination arising out the workforce, and from the public, and I don’t think that a lot of non- civil servants know that,” Hooper said.
DOD Program Mangers who run major acquisitions have been forced to buy personal liability insurance to cover lawsuits. Sweden has recognized the liability issues associated with employment required covid vaccine mandates and are isn the process of indemnifying corporations and large institutions against vaccine problems that injure, disable or kill employees. Biden said nothing about this so it has to be assumed that the corporation or institution is on the hook for liability.
Federal managers are between a rock and a hard place. Actually, all managers are.
