Within the past few weeks, there have been a few rather unusual news articles concerning COVID.
Curiosity #1:
Scott Davison, CEO of insurance company One America, says the death rather among 18 to 64 year old working age Americans is up 40% over pre-pandemic levels. This is the highest death rate seen in the history of the life insurance business. To quote Davison, “Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, — a one-in-a- 200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic. — So 40% is just unheard of. “
At the same news conference where Davison revealed the actuarial situation, Brian Tabor, president of the Indiana Hospital Association, said, “ hospitals across the state are being flooded with patients with many different conditions.” The number of hospitalizations is higher than before the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Not surprisingly, medical and biotechnology experts who had opposed the mRNA vaccines suggest that the above is the first sign of a number of serious health problems associated with these particular vaccines. (These experts had previously warned that there were many different mechanisms of injury and death associated with the vaccines.)
Curiosity #2:
Probably the most curious situation occurred in France when an insurance company refused to pay a death claim medically associated with the COVID-19 vaccine. The insurance company argued that the side effects of the Corona vaccines are known and that the deceased took part in an experiment at his own risk. The insurance company also stated that experimental treatments are excluded from the insurance contract. The deceased family’s lawsuit against the insurance company failed. (In France, COVID-19 is not classified as a “critical illness”.)
Curiosity #3
Youtube banned medical experts and US senators because they are supposedly spreading false information about the COVID-19 situation. Senator Paul was suspended for stating that “masks don’t work”. Senator Johnson was suspended over claims that “COVID-19 vaccines are unsafe”. Youtube management said that “any content that includes claims about COVID-19 vaccinations that contradict expert consensus from local health authorities or the World Health Organization will be removed from Youtube.“ Facebook has said and done much the same thing.
Essentially, Youtube, Facebook, and others that suppress data based on scientific consensus are acting politically not scientifically. Science is not about consensus but about robust challenges to reveal the truth. (A friend of mine, a CEO of a major Defense contractor, was fond of saying “In God we Trust. All others bring data”. He did not like data suppression based on a presumption of consensus.)
Michael Crichton, Author of the Andromeda Strain and the Jurassic Park movies, has stated:
“I regard consensus science as an extremely pernicious development that ought to be stopped cold in its tracks. Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled. “—- “Let’s be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right, which means that he or she has results that are verifiable by reference to the real world.“—- “In science consensus is irrelevant. What is relevant are reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus. There is no such thing as consensus science. If it’s consensus, it isn’t science. If it’s science, it isn’t consensus. Period.”
There are lots of interesting revelations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and as the above curiosities show, lots of questions to be answered.
