Stanley is joined by state co-chairs Shak Hill, a Fairfax small businessman and former candidate for Senate, and law professor Cynthia Dunbar.
The appointment Stanley is a pretty good score by Cruz. Stanley is an up-and-comer in Virginia Republican politics (rumored from time to time to be interested in running for Attorney General), with solid conservative bona fides. He will elevate the Cruz campaign in Virginia.
“I am excited to lead the Virginia effort to elect the freedom-loving constitutional conservative Ted Cruz as our next President,” said Sen. Stanley. “I am asking all Virginians, from all walks of life, and from all corners of the Commonwealth, to join our grassroots effort to be a part of reigniting the promise of America – for us, our children, and for generations to come. The story of Ted Cruz’s life and that of his family is the epitome of the American Dream. His vision for the future of our country is simple: that through his principled leadership, together we will build a dynamic nation where even those with nothing, have the chance to achieve anything.”
Though the campaign hasn’t made staff hires or other appointments, we understand that longtime Virginia conservative activists and current RPV State Central Committee Member Chris Shores has been officially tapped by the campaign to organize in Virginia.

I wonder what Shak Hill brings to the Va Ted Cruz campaign in Va other than a failed US Senate race and enormous debt associated with his run for office. What skills and record of campaign organization and wins does he bring to Ted Cruz’s campaign in Va?
Maybe there is a reason Ted Cruz is so far behnd in the polls if his campaign managers are making such poor selections in their committee co chairs.
“He could use the work” is what comes to mind for me.
Because Shak is a Constitutional expert on citizenship?
Outstanding! As always, Bill is demonstrating his true conservative values for the rest of Virginia.
Excited to see Cruz getting set up in Virginia!
Even though Bill Stanley is relatively safe in his state senate campaign, what in the hell is he thinking when it comes to throwing this out for his opponent to use against him?
or to put another way: in Sen Stanley’s quest for statewide office, how will association with a fire-breathing social conservative help Stanley in NoVa, Cville, Norfolk, Brunswick Co or other left leaning areas? or the youth vote? Unless this is a path for the AG nomination at a convention.
That’s the only logical conclusion that I can think of as well.
Constitutional Conservative — What is that?
Whatever you want it to mean. No more, no less.
Oh, just like a Compassionate Conservative!
