Bob Marshall, well known conservative in Prince William and Loudoun counties, has filed to be a candidate in the 10th district race to replace retiring Congressman Frank Wolf. This brings the total number of candidates to six. They are:
Bob Marshall
Howie Lind
Barbara Comstock
Rob Wasinger
Marc Savitt
Stephen Hollingshead
The candidate will be chosen on April 26th in a Firehouse primary. There will be 10 polling places throughout the 10th district, open from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Any registered voter will be eligible to cast a ballot if they state they intend to support the chosen republican candidate in November’s election.

I guess this GOP firehouse primary will have something for everyone:
– The far right Comstock haters can split their voting block between Lind and Marshall since both candidates will go to extremes to identify themselves as the “real” or “true” conservative; and we already know how much of a winning strategy that has been in recent statewide and federal elections within purple Northern Virginia.
– Activists who chronically invite Dem war on women attacks can rally around Marshall.
– Activists who desperately cling to the “Anti-Establishment” mantra can rally around Lind since he has now borrowed a Shak Hill play and tried to rebrand himself as “Anti-Establishment” by injecting himself into the FitzSimmonds issue.
– Fading stars such as Fimian and Stewart can try to look relevant by backing Marshall.
– Political hacks who suffer from OCD can rally around Wasinger. Likewise, anyone who prefers district shopper candidates also gets a choice between Wasinger and newly-established Leesburg resident Hollingshead.
With this kind of circus coming to town, one wonders why the so-called “game changer” Marshall endorsement by Dick Black didn’t clear this candidate field out? I guess the only potential candidates who flinched from this overrated endorsement were the truly absurd ones.
Fortunately, the VA-10 GOP primary electorate has the option to dismiss this circus and instead find comfort in Comstock who is a proven conservative winner in purple Northern Virginia despite the Dems throwing everything at her; stays above the fray by focusing on voter issues instead of foolishly injecting herself into RPV central committee issues; can raise the money needed to win at the Federal level (unlike Marshall); and never let her previous campaigns self-destruct (unlike Lind).
But wait – Wasinger is bringing out a big name endorsement – his campaign manager! The laughs never end.
