Today Democrats in the House of Delegates voted by secret ballot to remove their leader, Eileen Filler-Corn (D-Fairfax). There were concerns over the Republicans winning all three statewide seats and the House of Delegates last year and a lack of preparation for the next election, whether it be this year or next.
Delegate Don Scott Jr. (D-Portsmouth) led the movement to replace to Filler-Corn and he has made an announcement that he is running to replace her. He was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2019. Filler-Corn has served in the House since 2010.
During their one-day session today Democrats chose not to vote on a new minority leader, giving others a chance to consider running to replace Filler-Corn. Delegate Mark Sickles (D-Fairfax said), “We’ll do it quickly, like, probably the next time we’re in town”.

Supposedly, the main reason for her ouster was that $900,000 in contributions to the House Dem caucus was unspent as of election day , but on VPAP , it says the Caucus had about $123,000 on hand. It’s not unusual to oust the leader if you lose control of the House, but why this happened now vs. when the caucus met in the fall is beyond me. But again, Nancy Pelosi has kept her speakership despite Democrats losing control, too. The media are not getting the full story here., choosing to be nice to the Democrats. Im sure if this was a Republican shakeup, wed have more information. So, if it’s not due to the money and loss of the HOD, then what is it? Perhaps a power play by the African American Democrats to assume control of leadership positions? But Charniele Herring, who is black, was barely re-elected to her leadership position. In the near term, I don’t see this helping the GOP and GLenn Youngkin’s agenda, because Republicans have a majority in the HOD. If this shakeup occurrd in the State Senate, which Dems control, well, maybe there’s be some hard feelings and divisions Republicans could exploit. But long term, I believe this episide points out how the Democratic Party has been completely overtaken by radicals and the mainstream Dems like Eileen are powerless to stand up to them. In the US House, a number of Old Bulls have been upended in primaries — that’s how we got AOC! If the Dems lose big this fall in the mid terms, maybe they will come to their senses and work with Republicans to stave the infestation of Marxist/anti-racism from the ranks of our institutions, and that includes the Democratic Party.
Ken, I don’t think Democrats will come to their senses. As you noted, the moderate Dems have been and are being pushed out. In November, all the moderate Dems will be replaced by Republicans at the ballot box. That means only the craziest of the crazy Leftists will remain. As we have seen, they are zealots and will not change course. We are watching the end of the Democratic Party! Hallelujah!
Mainstream Dems should be joining with Republicans to get Marxism and anti-racist bullshit out of our schools and universities, because it’s a cancer on the country — but on their own party. The deposing of Eileen Filler Corn is just one example of that, but the radical socialists have thrown out of office a number of mainstream Dems in recent years, and to the detriment of the party. The Squad is a direct result of this radicalism that has infested our education system. If more and more Latinos keep voting GOP, the Democrats are doomed, but again, its up to us to pick up the pieces and run with it.
I wrote this on EIleen’s FB page just now: “sad day when an ex con, Don Scott, with only 4 years in office, can pull this off, but it has nothing to do with your handling of the speakership, but politics because you didn’t spend 900K in contributions you shaked down from special interests to help keep a Democrat majority. but this crop of leftists in yiur party is destroying our country, too. Let’s not forget that Ken Plum, who has much more seniority than you, was passed over as speaker, in large part because he’s a white male. So, the Dems at that time wanted the first female (maybe being Jewish helped you, too, though Democrats care little about Israel for fear of insulting the anti-Israel academics and Islamists) So, Eileen Filler-Corn you are as much of victim if this as any other moderates in your ranks. sorry this happened but you reap what you sew”
But its my hope that the more and more the radicals eat their old in the Democrat party, the public will see what shabby beings they are and they will vote GOP. but that means we have to be welcoming to more moderate voters and activists and not expect a litmus test for everyone who wants to be involved in Republican politics.
If they felt this bad after last November’s elections, just wait until Democrats see the results of this November’s elections.
Don’t worry; the Radical Left has no doubt learned the most important lesson from teh 2021 election: The Normals are onto their latest voter fraud techniques and are already adapting new ones to steal a fresh round of elections.
