The first debate between the two Virginia candidates for Senator will take place on July 26th, in West Virginia. Yes, West Virginia, at the Greenbrier resort. The debate will take place during the Virginia Bar Association’s summer meeting with live streaming online. The moderator will be Judy Woodruff of PBS.
Gillespie has accepted invitations to five other debates in Danville, Richmond, and two in northern Virginia. Warner has not yet committed to debates other than the first one. Gillespie is anxious to debate,
“These debates will provide Virginians a chance to hear directly from Mark Warner and me about our policies and visions for the future,”

Gillespie is a former lobbyist and former RNC chair I don’t think I can vote for him.
Sounds like a great venue to play a round of golf, establish a few new contacts in the Virginia legal profession and shill for funds, regarding outreach to the Virginia voter with your message not so much. Woodruff is truly the crowning touch to Gillespie’s so far largely incoherent campaign strategy. Maybe his people think what the heck only 1000 or so (being generous) will every see the streaming video anyway and it might generate some out of context Warner attack sound bites for down the road. Problem is if this is his best shot there is not much down the road upside in his future.
I’m not voting for RINO Gillespie, but I’m not voting for The Invisible Man either. Ronaldus Magnus is going to be my write-in.
Two parties, one agenda, and it ain’t yours!
You do realize that only the poll workers at your precinct will ever see your write in? But your vote will be added to the write-in tally along with all those who voted for Mickey Mouse, themselves, and none-of-the-above. Counting write-ins is a pain for the precinct workers and they never think there’s anything humorous or even interesting in the choices made. Save them the headache of another write-in and leave it blank, if you really think there’s no difference between electing Warner or Gillespie. Personally, I see a big difference. I want to take back the Senate to stop Obama. Just sayin’…………..
Hear, hear, Jeanine! As an experienced Election Official – I strongly second your request: please NO CLEVER WRITE-INS! At the end of a long day we poll workers really don’t relish having to tally up the many Micky Mouses, Madonnas, and Scooby Doos, etc. However I always tell people – if you don’t like any of the choices – just write an “X”. It gets the point across just as well AND protects the integrity of your ballot. Never leave a vote blank; there’s no telling if someone later won’t come along and fill it in for you.
Judy Woodruff as moderator?
Candy Crowley is vacationing with the Obamas.
Why do republicans do this to themselves?
They’re idiots.
Gillespie should insist that the debate be staged at the valet station, they can park cars in between debating what the Dems call a ‘recovery.’ The Greenbrier Resort, not only out of state but totally out of touch:
New Study – Warner’s World:
“According to the study, the top 5% of Americans averaged 24 times as much wealth as the wealth of the median American family in 2013; in 2007 they averaged 16.5 times as much.
The report indicates that the divide between the very wealthy and everyone else is derived from the ability of the 5% to invest in the stock market with their spare cash. The stock market dropped by nearly 50% during the recession but has returned to its level before the recession hit. However, about 10 percent of American households own 80 percent of stocks on the market.
Middle-class Americans, meanwhile, often look to their home equity for their wealth, but home prices have not regained their former status since the recession. In the first three months of 2014, 18.8% of homeowners who had a mortgage owed more on their mortgages than the worth of their homes, according to Zillow. Zillow adds that another 18.1% own so little equity that the equity couldn’t cover closing costs and a down payment on a new home.
Only 64.8% of Americans own homes, as opposed to 69.2% in 2004.
The study asserted that all households lost money during the recession and no group has fully regained what it lost. Still, the top 5% lost 16% of their net worth since 2007, while the median households lost a whopping 43%.”

Damn that free enterprise system!
Why not Cancun? They’re offering special discounts and free kidnapping insurance.
Because that would be silly.
Well they are running for the US Senate.
If it is really “out of touch”, I object as that would give Gillespie an overwhelming advantage!
