Virginians are very proud of their public universities, as they should be. A new survey by Business First has ranked the top 500 universities in the nation. Eleven Virginia schools made that list:
- University of Virginia, No. 3
- College of William and Mary, No. 8
- Virginia Tech, No. 32
- Virginia Military Institute, No. 38
- George Mason University, No. 55
- James Madison University, No. 60
- University of Mary Washington, No. 106
- Christopher Newport University, No. 116
- Virginia Commonwealth University, No. 147
- Radford University, No. 174
- Old Dominion University, No. 213
