The Drudge Report has published an above-the-fold article today titled, “REPORT: CONSERVATIVES LOOK FOR ALTERNATIVE TO ERIC CANTOR…” It seems that it might not just be the 7th VA District voters that are tired of Eric Cantor’s antics, but also his fellow Republican colleagues in the House of Representatives. It seems that conservatives in the House don’t want Boehner or Cantor as their next Speaker of the House, as multiple news sources have reported lately.
According to the Breitbart story, conservatives are upset with Eric Cantor over a litany of issues: single-handedly sneaking a Medicare vote through the House by a voice vote THAT EXPANDED OBAMACARE, supporting an anti-conservative PAC that is funded by unions, partnering with Democrat Maxine Waters on a flood insurance bill opposed by conservatives, crafting his own version of the DreamAct amnesty bill for illegal immigrants (see PJMedia), voting for a clean debt ceiling increase that few of his Republican colleagues supported, and shepherding through (with the help of Democrats) one of the the biggest federal government cronyism projects – the  Import/Export Bank.  (If you want the details and background on the aforementioned issues listed, please read the Breitbart article or PJMedia):
“If you are going to replace Boehner, it has to be with someone like Congressman Jeb Hensarling, a conservative who can unite the entire caucus. The other problem with Cantor is, at least you know where Boehner stands on issues. With Cantor, you never know what to believe,†Walsh added.
The latter sentiment – that Cantor is ideologically unpredictable, to put it one way – is something that comes up repeatedly in conversations with lawmakers on the right flank of the House Republican conference.
“Cantor — he doesn’t even have an ideology,†one GOP lawmaker said in a recent interview.
This recent scathing commentary about Eric Cantor are just the latest in heavy criticism that Cantor has received from his House colleagues . The article went on to say that:
In the last two years, Cantor, who has engaged in at least four concerted “rebranding†makeovers of his public image, has veered sharply in the other direction, strongly backing Boehner and moving to the center.
The shift has included moves like bringing a Democratic version of the Violence Against Women Act that most Republicans considered unconstitutional to the House floor, which passed in violation of the Hastert Rule. Cantor was also one of 28 Republicans who voted in February to pass a clean debt ceiling increase.
For House conservatives, who have often criticized Boehner’s leadership, Cantor’s new tack presents a quandary.
Cantor “would only be putting a well-trained and obedient prince on the throne in place of the king,†a senior GOP House aide said.
All of this news is interesting when you consider the most recent false attacks that Eric Cantor has levied against his Republican Primary opponent, Dave Brat, in mail, robocalls, TV commercials and radio ads:
“Professor David Brat has kicked off his campaign pretending to be a conservative, but don’t be fooled. Professor Brat once served as then Governor Tim Kaine’s hand-picked economic advisor and is no friend of conservatives. We don’t need a protégé of Senator Tim Kaine representing us in Washington.“
Dave Brat responded today by saying:
Having served for ten years in the Virginia House of Delegates, one would think Eric would know that the Board on which I served can NOT legally advise a Governor of Virginia on policy or rule making. One would think Eric would know that all the members of the JABE board do is provide professional non-partisan economic projections of the U.S. and Virginia economy.
Eric Cantor knows the truth.
Despite knowing the truth, Eric Cantor is content lying to Virginians in order to retain his office.
It seems that the quote by a GOP lawmaker, “Cantor — he doesn’t even have an ideology,” needs to be amended. Cantor has gained a reputation in his home district and in Congress for being sneaky, misleading, lying, and misrepresenting the facts. Cantor has found more recent success making deals with Democrats and Obama than his own Republican colleagues. Perhaps the quote should be amended to say, “Cantor-he doesn’t have an ideology and he is not an honest broker.”
The Republican Primary between Eric Cantor and Dave Brat is June 10th. Voting is at your normal voting location.

I understand that we don’t want to replace one bad egg with another one. Having said that, and trying to put things into perspective, is Brat’s association with Stosch any worse than Eric Cantor’s very close association with Steve LaTourette, who vowed to crush conservatives everywhere with the help of leftist union funding, and Mark Zuckerberg, a big time Obama supporter who is pushing hard for a liberal version of immigration reform? Yes, there are pictures of Cantor leaving Boehners office after a meeting with Zuckerberg Sept. 19, 2013.
I’m just asking.
I have a Dave Brat question: how does he explain having worked so closely with big lib Walter Stosch? Not an attack, just a question.
I don’t know about working “closely” with him. All his time was voluntary. From the talks I have had with him (since I’m not a fan of big spending/tax raiser Stosch), this was an opportunity for him to get his feet wet in hands-on public policy in his local community, but he found himself frequently disagreeing with Stosch’s Keynesian economics. He worked primarily on k-12 education for several years on bills extending choice to kids with disabilities. He was never involved in any inside baseball political discussion with Stosch’s campaign team.He was never involved in any tax or finance decision making. Once he got involved on the political side during the tea party movement, I think he saw a different side.
Thanks…I keep hearing that raised and just wanted some context.
I have heard similar whispers from past associations but this helps clear the air some.. Thx both of you for airing this out.
Steve, thanks for good question. Dave was simply an, invited, education advisor to assist in solutions for disabled children. Dave will do anything to help those that CANT help themselves, Ironically, this may be a question for Cantor since Stosch is supporting Cantor, it is the both of them that work together on liberal directives. We need to be careful because Cantors machine is now ramping up with negative false misinformation(see cantors new add full of lies). Anyone that can help Dave financially directly would be great. http://www.davebratforcongress.com
I donated to Brat last week – plan to donate more soon. Also signed up to volunteer. I encourage EVERYONE to do the same … WE MUST REMOVE CANTOR!! http://www.davebratforcongress.com
I object to the assertion that Cantor doesn’t have an ideology. He has a very clear ideology: “Show me the money!”
Let’s hope Cantor keeps digging the hole so deep he falls in and disappears.
