Ed Gillespie rolled out a bold tax cut plan yesterday he calls “Cutting Taxes for ALL Virginians” that is long overdue for individuals and small business owners in Virginia.
His plan is aimed at “turn(ing) our economy around by emphasizing natural, organic economic growth instead of a top-down government approach that picks winners and losers with our taxpayer dollars.”
The highlights of Gillespie’s proposal are as follows:
– Provides the FIRST income tax rate cut since rates were established in 1972
– Cuts individual income tax rates by ten percent across-the-board, putting nearly $1,300 per year back into the pocket of a family of four
– Sparks natural, organic economic growth to diversify our economy and create more than 50,000 new full-time private-sector jobs in five years
– Puts Virginia on a path toward meaningful local business tax reform
Phased-in over three years and fully funded within existing revenue growth to ensure core government services are protected, preserving $2 billion in projected revenue growth for spending over five years
For most small business owners like myself, who pay taxes as individuals and not as a corporate entity, this is huge! We will be able to utilize our tax savings to grow our business, pay our employees more or a host of other benefits.
Just as important are the details. The Gillespie plan also completely eliminates the BPOL Tax, the Machinery & Tools Tax, and the Merchant’s Capital Tax that have for so long punished small businesses. By working closely with the local governments, Ed Gillespie plan is to lift the yoke that has been choking small business growth in Virginia for generations, spurring investment and creating thousands of jobs in all areas of the state…not just those regions of the state growing because of the growth of government.
This plan is the product of an enormous amount of work, largely by volunteer experts, economists, policy analysts and others who are backing Ed and helping to make our Commonwealth great again. It is a serious and well-developed proposal that can work, and that can do so without allowing the Democrats to hold hostage public funding over schools, emergency services, and other public priorities. Unlike proposals from other candidates over the years, this proposal is not a half-baked stunt to generate headlines and fool the gullible into thinking the candidate is conservative.
Instead, this is what actual conservative leadership looks like my friends, putting into action the principles of the free market, small government, and fiscal responsibility that are the hallmarks of our Creed.
This is why so many of us believe Ed Gillespie is the leader Virginia is looking for.

FAKE NEWS! BIG LIES!
Just take a look at this FAKE NEWS BIG LIE in the article:
QUOTE
– Cuts individual income tax rates by ten percent across-the-board, putting nearly $1,300 per year back into the pocket of a family of four
UNQUOTE
This STATES as FACT that EVERY FAMILY OF FOUR in Virginia will GET close to $1300!
THAT IS A BIG LIE and the writer knows it! THEREFORE the writer is a LYING MONGER of FAKE NEWS. Correct?
First the state income tax proposal is a completely back loaded “five year” phased in proposal that projects these savings in the outer final years. Much like most big government federal programs and/or budget policies delivering “little to nothing” upfront to you the tax payer day one but a lot of promises of down the road savings under what will likely be potentially a different elected Virginia General Assembly and Senate composition (perhaps not so friendly to delivering the goods in year five) and a single term lame duck Governor.
Our US Congressional establishment Republican elected officials love to get behind these type of proposals as they completely understand the likelihood of never having to deliver the goods when the outer years roll around and supposed future circumstances pop up calling for new spending requirements (and the voter base’s only recall is of vague past commitments). You end up from the political viewpoint with the perennial no harm, no foul, non action script. I like to call these type of tax plans the “Ryan” specials as he has made these spreadsheet specialized political marketing tools his stock and trade for over a decade having managed to deliver NOTHING to date.
As for the rest of the proposal it’s an assumption laden, upon assumption laden modeling exercise that may or may not deliver anything let alone what it is proposing. It’s OK policy baseline stuff but a long, long way from any delivered goods let alone legislative ready material. In other words a campaign re-election marketing document to garner votes with down the road maybes created and packaged by paid consultancy for big bucks. I guess you could say at least someone (the beltway consultants) are getting some immediate payout from it.
OK, just sour grapes and unfair postulating by a non Gillespie supporter you say. Here is a freely offered and public statement that will convince me that retread Ed is truly the real goods and swing my vote to him. Mr. Gillespie take your tax plan and its pounds and pounds of consulting generated assumptions and modeling and toss it out for one simple written and campaign stated commitment and that is “you will take your back loaded state in come tax boondoggle and REVERSE the impacts to totally and completely front load its cash saving benefits to the Virginia taxpayers immediately not five years down the road”. I feel very comfortable that my non Gillespie vote is quite safe as this is nothing more then tons and tons of campaign marketing smoke and Ed’s retread(s) will NEVER hit the road by actually delivering any meaningful immediate relief to anyone. Prove me wrong Ed.
Well, him or CS would be a tremendous upgrade in the Governor’s Mansion
So what goodies does Ed have in his Santa sack for voters who aren’t business people? Ten percent less taxes on crap RoVa wages don’t add up to much.
Guy on Fox News tonight explained the Republican health care fiasco. He said the Ryan Healthcare plan cuts Medicare $880 BILLION. And it cuts taxes on the rich by an almost identical $880 BILLION. Right at $1,000,000,000,000, thatsTRILLION.
Now, this wasn’t on some left wing, fake news outlet. This was on Fox News, Tucker Carlson show, about 1 hour ago.
Thanks President Donald!
PS- let us see If Enron Ed can out screw Trump. You will have to come up with a better lie than 10% to top “The Donald”, Ed.
I don’t get Fox news. In fact my TVs only have two channels. On Channel 1 is my wife’s foreign language channel.
On Channel 2 is my wife’s other foreign language channel.
I think maybe I should ask the cable company for a refund.
Unfortunately Fox News continues to lose credibility by adding such notable contributors such as Marie Harf and Ezekiel Emanuel.
Hear Hear !
“Fox we report, you decide.”
It should be, ” Fox we don’t report, so you can’t decide.”
Fox News has been censoring important news for years that would detract from its globalist agenda.
Now wait a second, Ed was a huge backer of the Trump campaign, he actually went to two Pence rallies!!!
Anyone who just shows up at the governor’s mansion in Richmond (excluding the Democrats) is going to see the employment “Trump bump” even if they do nothing more then sit in their office and stare out the window for four years. It’s a little like taking credit for the tide rolling in as your time slice facts above demonstrate for Virginia.
Hold current projection rates constant and tell me how much you and your programs are going to incrementally improve the state employment picture. It’s rather sad as the Gillespie team keeps relying on yesterday’s political parlor tricks that worked perfectly well on a comatose voting base a decade ago but in the post Trump world where more and more base voters are awakening up ever day they just look like sleight of hand. If your going to depend on magic tricks to dazzle and confuse don’t be like the guy below in execution and the Gillespie camapign appears to be just that.

Too bad the Tea Party types can’t see through Enron Ed. Seems like he’s the one going around telling people what they want to hear. Just another establishment drone. I don’t buy his newfound conservatism.
Analysed how much this plan covers Jean? How about some analysis?
I’m not running for office or preening for votes. I’m looking at his past performance. How about you provide some analysis and tell me why he’s worth any effort at all to listen to given what he’s done before.
His past performance? Got links or is this simply your opinion?
Strictly my opinion, but guess what? My vote and the vote of my family members are tangible. I looked him up, I’ve heard his words and I don’t support him. He’s just telling people what they want to hear; pandering to conservatives.
I see you are engaging in opinion as well, as is your right. You are apparently a supporter, yet you provide no links refuting my opinion… interesting.
Past performance kinda implies holding office… but he did almost win Senator right?
I’m sure Corey Stewart has similar plans, tax cuts for small business. Not quite a novel idea for most Republicans.
Here is something Stewart will not do. He will not keep the door wide open for illegal aliens in Virginia, like Gillespie. Moreover, Stewart will protect the lives of Virginians above all, especially from roving gangs like MS-13 and criminal Muslims; and at least try to keep jobs for its citizens first.
Can you please provide a verifiable example where Ed kept the door open for illegals?
He has been an open borders guy for years, look it up. But here is an example. While attending the Smith Mountain Lake forum ten days ago, when a question on having sanctuary cities in VA was asked, Gillespie refused to say he was against them, even when Stewart pressed him, politely, on the issue.
What does that say to you?
Care to share a link? Im searching and found zip.
Seeing how the above regarding the SML forum doesn’t do anything for you, try this for starters:
http://www.vdare.com/articles/treason-lobbyist-ed-gillespie-wants-to-be-virginia-s-gop-senator-is-he-the-worst-candidate
This article has other links about your esteemed candidate.
Stewart will say whatever it takes.
Oh, but not Gillespie -LOL!
By the looks of this article, it is Enron Ed who is saying whatever it takes.
There is no way in hell that Norment and Cox, or the Republican are going to go for this. I bet they cannot stop laughing at this.
What does Enron Ed intend to cut? Oh, I see, I will figure that out later.
If integrity and honesty don’t matter, Corey is your guy.
Anybody who parachutes into Virginia, talking a bunch of s–t about the tax raising Republicans in the Virginia GA ever cutting taxes 10%, AND throwing money at blogs by paying for website upgrades, has about as much credibility as any other con artist.
If integrity and honesty matter, explain politics?
Parachutes in.. like Minnesota Corey?
Now I’m seeing Corey playing pool.
Paying for website redesign???
And that Ed ad that leers at me from every page???
Wait a second, is that why TBE is now looking all froufrou?
What’s next? Pajamasmedia or LevinTV???
Ask Jeanine or Steve.
I figured my comment probably has their pagers set to stun.
So do I.

Ed Gillespie has turned out to be a very formidable candidate. I like his common sense approach to solving problems and most of all, he has stayed away from name calling and gutter politics. President Trump is blowing up the “establishment” so I am not really too concerned any more with his long standing ties with “establishment” politicians. And he and his wife seem like really nice people.
He is a good man and a man of character. Completely the opposite of what we have now.
You make a good point that Trump has so decimated the establishment, Gillespie might as well become a conservative.
Close friends of Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are ok by me. Ed for the win.
Regarding your Trump conjecture regarding establishment – utter nonsense. In fact his administration has hardly touched the issue as of yet, Obama progressives perhaps through many still set in his administration as hold over appointees. This is the type of fact free content opinions espoused by Gillespie supporters that doesn’t add much credibility to their position or candidate..
