Governor Northam announced today that he will keep businesses such as restaurants, hair salons, entertainment centers, and all other businesses considered non-essential, closed past the previous date of April 23rd. He intends to address the issue in more detail at his press conference on Wednesday. He will also keep the date of June 10th for his ‘stay at home’ order to expire. “We need to keep doing what we’re doing”.
It looks like Northam wants to keep his status as the Governor who is the strictest in the country on COVID-19 restrictions. He does not appear to be concerned about the hundreds of thousands of Virginians who going to lose their jobs and businesses because the Governor has shut down the state for a quarter of the year.
