We previously wrote about the Governor’s choice of Susan Swecker to head the Democratic Party of Virginia because she is a solid supporter of Hillary Clinton. Now the Governor has vetoed House Bill 1318 leaving a large loophole for fraud in absentee voting. Kenric Ward has the story here.

HB 1318 would have simply required a photo ID (or facsimile) when requesting an absentee-ballot remotely via phone, mail or email request as is currently required when you apply in person for such a ballot and is entirely consistent with Virginia’s photo ID law in place today. The Dems and Progressives are of course shouting voter infringement of low income individuals who will according to them be discriminated against given this onerous new absentee requirement. This is despite any credible facts to substantiate the claim and indeed ignoring the studies that have been done in the past few years that have found no evidence of voter suppression, what so ever, when state election laws require photo IDs . The paternalism is being ladled on extra thick in this case, as if these potential low income absentee voters would find access to a copy machine equivalent to requiring them to access the “CERN particle accelerator”. Make no mistake this is about the Clinton team sweeping the state’s county registrars published lists of absentee-ballot requests looking for “targets of opportunity” if it should become necessary. Anything that restricts that opportunity is going to be “righteously opposed” by this bunch.
I would give you 10 thumbs if I could!
