Over the last year, Governor McAuliffe has restored voting rights to152,694 felons along with setting up a website to help them. If these felons were a city they would be the fifth largest city in Virginia. McAuliffe has restored voting rights to more felons than all past Governors of Virginia, all the way back to colonial times. All of these felons can now vote, serve on juries, and become notaries. The Governor is very proud of his accomplishment.
McAuliffe is in support of changing the Virginia Constitution to allow all felons to have their voting rights restore after completion of their sentences. The General Assembly has objected to McAuliffe’s proposal.
