Governor Northam has announced he will not resign the Governorship. He now claims he was not in the yearbook photo showing two men, one in blackface and one in a KKK robe. Northam says neither was him and he finds the photo despicable and disgusting. In fact, he had never seen the photo before yesterday and was “horrified” when he saw it. He admits to submitting all the photos on the page in his medical school yearbook except the offensive photo in question. According to the Governor, the photo may have been placed on the wrong page in the yearbook. Northam hopes to have more information on the photo in the coming days but it is definitely not him. (He’s going to get to the bottom of this!)
Northam says he did appear in blackface in San Antonio in a dance contest in 1984 in a costume depicting Michael Jackson. He says he has never, ever, appeared in a KKK robe.
The Governor said it would be easier to resign but he won’t take the easy way out. He will listen and grow as a man. (This is nausea inducing.)
Northam’s nicknames in high school and at VMI were Goose and Coonman. He was called Goose because of the way he sounded when his voice changed. He has no idea why he was called Coonman. (Perhaps because he wore a Davy Crockett hat in high school and college? Just a guess.)
The Governor vows to continue to lead.
