That Ad is great, but I’m sure the gerrymandering problem is fixable. You can’t take politics out of politics. An “independent” commission would be great, but maybe not possible. Who would appoint them?
Probably the best way to make the body independent is to do lifetime appointments, like SCOTUS. But even SCOTUS gets pretty political (though not nearly as political as people seem to think.) But I would fear that the real kingmakers in Virginia would be this “independent” board that has no accountability to the voters. Gerrymandering might just be as good as it gets.
I meant I’m not sure it’s fixable.
