UPDATE:  2/9 Yesterday at the College Republicans Convention in Richmond  Howie  Lind announced that he is running for Congress in the 10th district.  His  announcement came immediately after Eric Cantor urged the crowd to support Barbara Comstock  for Congress.  Cantor’s confirmation that Comstock is the establishment’s choice may be helpful to Howie’s candidacy.Â
Just heard from a very reliable source that Howie Lind will run for the Republican Congressional nomination in the 10th district to replace the retiring Frank Wolf. Â According to Mason Conservative, Delegate Marshall will also run. Â As former chairman of the 10th district, Howie Lind is well known, and well liked, among republicans in the district. Â The filing deadline is February 15th. Â The nominee will be chosen in a Firehouse Primary on April 26th.

I’m not sure which campaign will be more comical to watch: Wasinger’s astroturfing; Hollingshead’s sudden relocation to Leesburgh; or how Lind’s campaign will find a way to self-destruct (just like the Senate bid).
Does Mark Levin’s endorsement also prove that Barbara is the establishment choice?
Sock puppetry is not allowed. Post honestly or we will delete you.
Read the Daily Caller’s oppo file on Comstock:

What is it with candidates jumping from one race to another this year? Ron Meyer realized he couldn’t win, and changed course. Now Howie Lind is realizing the same thing? If you can’t win, you can’t win. Stop hurting the cause by continuing to try.
Neither Bob Marshall nor Howie Lind can raise the money nor build the broad coalition needed to win in this congressional district. Barbara Comstock can do both and her conservative bona fides are clear in her endorsements from folks like Tim Phillips, Brent Bozell and Mark Levin. Bob and Howie should see the writing on the wall. This will be an overwhelming victory for Barbara Comstock.
It certainly isn’t surprising that a lobbyist can raise money from people who want favors. Is a lobbyist the best we can do? If you look at her fundraising, most of it came from the PACs to retain a house majority, and now she is looking to move in less than two months. Her conservative positions are less than clear with me. Where does she stand on gay marriage? Where does she stand on keeping lobbyists from skimming money from the government?
Sock Puppet alert!!!
Yes indeed, Mike! Like you and others in this thread, I was one of hundreds at yesterday’s Fairfax “Ambassadors for Comstock”, where 150 grassroots activists from all over NoVA gathered to kickoff the campaign. People from PW and Loudon where in attendance, Tea Party folks, and of course the hardcore Fairfax supporters from all over the county, to include the 8th and 11th districts. I seriously doubt any other candidate that has thrown their name in the hat can compete with the support displayed yesterday. Barbara has always been there for all of us before, and we are now there for her. Onward to victory on April 26 and at the general!
Marshall: His electability outside of the 13th HOD District is questionable at best.
Lind: His former US Senate campaign staffers have already fled for better jobs; so the staff he’ll likely attract for a VA-10 race will be amateurs trying to run an insurgency campaign. I wonder if he’ll borrow Shak Hill’s latest ploy and claim to be the anti-establishment candidate (against Comstock’s heavy hitter endorsements)?
In the long run, it pays to be consistent with your political ambitions. Brand loyalty among voters and faithful top-notch staffers will follow. Otherwise, you end up getting labeled as the perennial opportunistic candidate. Just ask Ron Meyer and Robert Sarvis.
Who?

Is there a rule in VA-10 that every candidate has to announce indirectly on the bull elephant through a very reliable source?
Nope. Previously the announcements came directly from the candidates to The Bull Elephant. All candidates in the 10th want to announce through The Bull Elephant. We’re the voice of Virginia Politics! Thanks for asking.
Wowie, it’s Howie. What are his positions?
Howie is a strong conservative.
Full of controversy too: http://bearingdrift.com/2014/02/10/lind-if-you-keep-this-up-i-will-ensure-you-dont-get-a-job-in-politics-again/ Hope you do a post on this.

Don’t hold your breath waiting, John.
As predicted, Lind is already self-destructing, but you’re unlikely to hear that from this story’s author.
The not-so-secret ABC (Anyone But Comstock) campaign being pushed by some Loudon County and PWC activists will just shift gears toward Marshall or Fox.
The ABC attitude doesn’t make sense to me. We have a chance to elect a very conservative candidate who’s very electable. I hope Comstock can pull through and I think she will. She’s got a solid endorsement list from big names like Mark Levin and Brent Bozell and many others…plus she’s good at fundraising which we need against the Dems.
The reason for the ABC attitude is because Comstock is not as far right as these particular activists want her to be. Their far right politics doesn’t win county-wide in Loudon or Fairfax (which you need to win a statewide and VA-10 race), so they play fast and loose with the “establishment candidate” label and claim their losses are due to candidates not being conservative enough.
It wasn’t that long ago that some of these same activists suggested Frank Wolf get primaried.
