UPDATE: House minority leader Congressman Kevin McCarthy has just said he believes the impeachment vote will begin at 7 to 7:30 this evening.
On Tuesday night the House Rules Committee voted on the rules for the impeachment vote on Wednesday. The rules were passed on strict party lines, like everything involving the impeachment of the President.
The rules include 6 hours of debate on the floor of the House evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans. The votes on the two articles of impeachment are expected to happen between 4 and 6 p.m. But it would surprise no one if the vote happened later in the evening.
The impeachment votes are also expected to be strictly along party lines with the exception of New Jersey freshman Democrat Rep. Jeff Van Drew who will vote against impeachment and is expected to change political parties in the coming days. According to the Washington Post, currently 218 Congressman have said they will vote for at least one article of impeachment, 15 have not said, and 198 have said they will vote against impeachment.
