Jamie Radtke, former conservative candidate for Senate, and supporter of Barbara Comstock for Congress, is urging Bob FitzSimmonds not to resign his office on the Republican State Central Committee. In a guest column in the Hampton Roads Pilotonline.com she said:
Jamie Radtke: Serious GOP/blogger twaddle
We can all think of a time when we have pulled the wrong word out of the cobwebs of our brain.
Bob FitzSimmonds, Republican Party of Virginia Treasurer and close ally of Ken Cuccinelli, has become the fall guy for a state GOP that is: 1) desperate to shake off the false “War on Women” narrative and 2) desperate to reclaim control of the RPV State Central Committee that is currently controlled by grassroots conservatives.
Barbara Comstock is one of many candidates running for the Congressional seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf. She has a strong conservative record and impressive credentials.
In a Facebook discussion Tuesday evening someone commented that “women need to come out strong for her” because “a man was trying to usurp her position in the race.” FitzSimmonds replied that he had “nothing against Barbara Comstock” but that he hated that kind of “sexist t***.” He quickly clarified that he meant sexist “twaddle,” using the word for foolish talk or argument.
I have known Bob for a decade, I support Barbara Comstock, and I know what it is like to run as a female Republican candidate. It angers me to see GOP leaders opportunistically crucify a good man for cheap political fodder.
The irony?
These are the same insiders who ardently defended former governor and U.S. senator George Allen and his infamous “macaca” moment from 2006. These are also many of the same men who defended “Rolex” Bob McDonnell, the former Virginia governor, amid his gift scandal.
It is no secret that the GOP is desperate to escape the “War on Women” mantra. It is also no secret that the GOP establishment is desperate to reclaim control of the State Central Committee. Some GOP officials and their consultants saw an opportunity for a twofer and went for it.
There has been some serious GOP/blogger twaddle going on recently, and it needs to be called out.
(Emphasis added). I am proud to have women like Jamie Radtke in our party, women who are brave enough to stand up and tell the truth against the establishment Republicans who are so desperate to regain control of our party.

For me, this kerfuffle isn’t interesting so much for the “substance,”
but more on what it may or may not illuminate about political maneuvers
in Virginia. I’ve only recently become active again in my local GOP
unit committee — Montgomery County — and I’ve not been paying
attention to political dramas, but now I am.
Justin Higgins has been mentioned elsewhere as vigorously pushing the anti-Fitzsimmonds meme. He was also mentioned as the person who unveiled the fact that Howie Lind had separated from his wife. Don’t both involve tearing down a Republican? Or am I mistaken about that?
I’ve never met Justin, but he served as secretary of my unit
committee last year, before I got re-involved. Descriptions of him by local party stalwarts have mostly been of a young man in a hurry, who on occasion seemed to shirk his committee duties because he was busy climbing a political ladder. Rumor is he’s moved to the Washington, DC area.
So who is Justin Higgins, and why is he attacking Republicans? Someone clue me in. Not having been involved for many years, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.
“To the doctors he said, “I just hope you’re Republicans.”
To which one doctor replied, “Today, Mr. President, we’re all Republicans.”
Very well said, Jamie Radtke.
