Between January and June of this year, Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy (D-Prince William) raised more money than any other declared candidate in a run for Governor next year, but former Democrat Governor Terry McAuliffe raised more than all the other candidates combined. However, it is said that McAuliffe is reconsidering a run.
Carroll Foy raised $810,790 from January through June followed by Sen. Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond) who raised $490,374. Terry McAuliffe raised $1.7 million during the same time period.
The only Republican who has declared her candidacy for Governor, Senator Amanda Chase (Chesterfield), raised $227,364 in the first half of this year.
Other Democrats who are rumored to be running for Governor next year include Lt.Governor Justin Fairfax, Attorney General Mark Herring, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, former Congressman Tom Perriello and Republican entrepreneur Pete Snyder.
