In the latest Quinnipiac Poll for Governor, Democrats beat Republicans by double digits.
In the Republican primary for Governor, Ed Gillespie is ahead with 28% of the vote, Corey Stewart is second with 12% of the vote, and Frank Wagner trails with 7%. Fifty-one percent are undecided.
In the Democrat primary, Tom Perriello has 25 percent, Ralph Northam is at 20% and 51% are undecided.
Head to head match-ups:
Perriello over Gillespie 46% to 33%
Northam over Gillespie 44% to 33%
Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine both enjoy high approval ratings, 62% and 58% respectively. The poll shows Senator Kaine winning easily in 2018 over two possible Republican candidates. Kaine wins 56% to 35% over Laura Ingraham and 57% to 33% over Carly Fiorina.
These low numbers for Republicans may have something to do with Trump’s high disapproval ratings in Virginia, 57% disapprove and 36% approve of the job he’s doing. While Governor McAuliffe enjoys an approval rating of 52% with disapproval at only 32%.

Well gee, the #NoTrumpster crowd got their wish. Now they have to dream up excuses for why their guys are poll losers. They should have plenty of excuses in the RPV data bank come November.
Hint: many of those undecided no longer give a damn.
This poll is meaningless for several reasons:
1) They over polled democrats, which would make a democratic “win” in the poll almost guaranteed..
2) They polled registered voters rather than likely voters. Especially in a low-turnout, off-year election, that makes a significant difference.
3) With 51% still undecided, none of the results reflect opinions on election day.
4) Demographics of those polled should have been included in this article along with results.
Gotta’ love those Quinnipiac polls: One month prior to the 2014 matchup between Warner and Gillespie, Quinnipiac had Warner ahead by 9 points.

When the dust settled, Warner barely eked-out a win by six-tenths of one percent. But that’s not as bad as some: “A poll by Roanoke College released last week found Mr. Warner with a comfortable lead over Mr. Gillespie among registered voters, 47 percent to 22 percent.”

Thus, there’s still plenty of room for Republican optimism.
Perriello ate up my friend Goode with a unsponored stock car add.
Virgil went to DC with no sponsors and now look at his advertisers all over his car.
I imagine Gillespie will be easier.
Frankly the only two Candidates that could probably handle a 40 hour work week with me and my American employees is Stewart and Perriello.
The others would be screaming for a guest worker program?
A thought ;
When the illegal alien population starts to feel the squeeze from the Fed. in NOVA/DC they will be fleeing to the cracks and crevices in rural Va.
What is Gillespies’ plan to combat illegal aliens ?
Possibly bolster the value of lumber companies using this labor for install services , then sell off?
Meh…too early to tell. Not impressed with the QP methodology.

Wouldn’t put too much faith in Quinnipiac polls. Didn’t they have Hilary Clinton winning by 12% in Va, and by 7-10 nationwide in 2016? Best polling in Va comes from local polling. Not even sure that most Virginians know who Tom Pereillo is. Probably alot of Democrats don’t know who Pereillo is, other than he may have been endorsed by The Bern.
Isn’t it spelled Perrioli? Thats how its spelled on Spacebook. https://www.facebook.com/TomPerrioli/?ref=br_rs
McDonnell, Howell, Norment, Trump, power company politics, not taking billions in Federal Medicaid expansion cash, legalized corruption in Virginia’s politics, all taking a toll. Oh, and don’t forget about our huge illegal population!
