Just under 200 people attended tonight’s Loudoun County Republican fundraiser in Purcellville. Many elected officials attended, including Senator Dick Black and delegates Dave LaRock and Tag Greason. Supervisors Janet Clark, Geary Higgins, Ken Reid, Eugene Delgaudio, and Suzanne Volpe were also there along with Sheriff Mike Chapman, Commissioner of the Revenue Bob Wertz and school board members Jill Turgeon and Bill Fox. Most of the current candidates for office attended including Senate candidate Shak Hill. Ed Gillespie was not in attendance but he was well represented by many staffers. All but one of the candidates for Congress in the 10th came to the event. No doubt the readers of this blog can guess which candidate failed to appear, the ever elusive Rob Wasinger. He apparently has no interest in engaging with voters in the 10th district. Barbara Comstock worked the crowd with support from a very large group of staffers, well over 20. Comstock signs lined the parking lot and the street approaching the venue. Her presence was felt throughout in the room. Therefore it was not a surprise when she won the straw poll. The results, in order, for Congress in the 10th district:
Barbara Comstock
Bob Marshall
Stephen Hollingshead
Marc Savitt
Howie Lind
Rob Wasinger
Results in the race for Senate,
Ed Gillespie
Shak Hill
Results were reported by Loudoun Republican Chairman Mike Haynes but he did not report the number of votes or percentages in either race saying that some candidates would be embarrassed by the lopsided results. “The results were not close”.

As I recall, in an earlier meeting Comstock acknowledged she was paying her staff to show up at these meeting. So are the results a true reflection of the voting populous? Maybe its time we started asking some hard questions about some of these candidates resumes. Has anyone vetted their resumes. I saw some very disturbing facts about our candidates. Go Look for yourself.
Even if Barbara Comstock had 20 staffers there and voting, she received two and a half times as many votes as Bob Marshall. That is a pretty impressive vote of confidence from the local Republican activists in Loudoun County.

[…] immediately on the heels of her crushing victory in the Loudoun County Republican straw poll (she apparently more than doubled the combined vote of all of her opponents put together), Del. […]
Ha, I love that two of the apostles posted at the same time a couple hours ago questioning the bonafide’s of Comstock. Has all the markings of a Marshall supporter smear.
Which apostle will come after my heresy for even questioning the integrity of Marshall or his supporters? Will it be Andy, Phil, Matt, or maybe Tom?
Ok, now that my sarcasm is out of the way, let me say I have long supported and appreciated much of the work Marshall has done. I have always voted for him, and have frequently had his signs in my yard. I have in the past couple of years, come to realize that Marshall is really all about Marshall.
The deck was stacked, when you bring half of the ‘voters’ as part of your team, you better win.
I was greeted at her table with a curt “what can I do for you” – and her ‘reform’ not repeal ObamaCare message is milktoast at best.
If she wins the primary I will hold my nose and vote for her in the General – but people calling her conservative don’t seem to know the meaning.
Begs the question: Did Comstock really win the straw poll at all? It would certainly not be the first time the establishment has lied to cover up an embarrassment to one of their own. They were most certainly NOT trying to save Marshall embarrassment; they hate his guts. If he had lost badly, you can bet your last breath they would have not only announced the numbers, but would crowed and cheered loudly for Comstock. And if she actually lost with 20 staffers voting in a largely establishment crowd…..hmmmm.
I support Barbara. She clearly has superior organizational skills and the ability to beat Foust and retain the 10th District seat for Republicans. How long before we drum the clown and moron Wasinger out of the Republican Party forever?
I don’t think that Wasinger has ever been a member or the Republican party. The good news is, after April 26th we will never hear his name again.
Sure we will. The next time he runs for Congress . . . in Georgia or Kentucky.
First of all I have not endorsed anyone yet for the 10th District slug fest. Isn’t competition great! I would like several questions answered by Barbara before we even look at here voting record.
1. Does she support Eric Cantor and his assault on the Tea Party movement? If so, every Tea Party member should not even consider her or her voting record.
2. If she doesn’t support Eric Cantor, she should make a definitive statement about that by firing Ray Allen from her campaign staff, since he was the attack dog Eric sent after conservatives around the state. Otherwise she must be considered an ally of Eric Cantor. We know she has accepted money from his PAC.
3. Does she support the current leadership in the House? If not, who would she support to replace Boehner, Cantor, and McCarthy?
4. Will she be a strong advocate to repeal Obamacare? Not improve or replace, just get rid of it.
5. Will she fight for complete investigations into all the scandals in this most corrupt administration of our time? Benghazi, Fast and Furious, IRS, NSA, Seal Team Six, EPA testing on Humans, etc.
6. Would she vote for impeachment of Eric Holder and Barack Obama if the opportunity presents itself?
One can reasonably expect Comstock to be aligned with Cantor given their mutual associates and political similarity.
That’s why I would not giver her a DIME!
I have been told that Barbara Comstock got over 70% of the vote tonight. As she travels the district campaigning, handles her duties in Richmond as a Delegate, and prepares for her daughter’s wedding in May ( which forces her to miss some critical events although not as critical as her Daughter’s wedding showers etc) Barbara continues to impress the voters that she is the one candidate who can best keep the 10th district in the. republican column this fall. I don’t understand the attacks on her and those who question her philosophy. Clearly they don’t know her voting record, the conservative endorsements she has piled up, and have not listened to her in this campaign. I am sure the attacks on Barbara will continue and likely increase before the April 26th firehouse primary by those who would rather tear down than build up, but that only shows how desperate these others are who can’t win by being positive and hope to win by going negative. Those who wrap themselves in Reagan conviently forget sometimes his Eleventh Commandment. Barbara will win this nomination and the Democrats will not take this seat. She has built the strongest organization with the broadest appeal within out conservative Republican Party.
There is no way you would know the percentage of Barbara’s win. With six candidates, I seriously doubt that her win was that large. There are no attacks on Barbara on this blog so I’m not sure why your defensiveness is voiced here but thanks for the comment.
Percentages are what I was told, that’s all and they would not surprise me frankly when you look at the field and the clear desire to win in the fall. I did not mean to indicate this forum has attacked Barbara and I apologize if that is what it seemed. I have received calls and mailings questioning Barbara’s conservative beliefs and other postings in other forums certainly have done so. I was commenting on the campaign, on what I believe is coming in increased attacks on Barbara, and that she is in my opinion the best candidate running. April 26th will prove me right or wrong. And the next three weeks will see if the attacks on her increase.
Even with so many staffers voting, it’s unlikely that Barbara got 70% of the vote.
Just saw the actually numbers were posted. Barbara got 63%.
actual, not actually

It’s not “Reagan’s Eleventh Commandment” although he “followed” it until he lost four primaries to Gerald Ford. But then he went to North Carolina where Jesse Helms read him the facts of life. Reagan went negative on Ford over Detente and the Panama Canal. After that he won nearly every single primary and the rest is history. But if Reagan had ignored that silly “rule” he’d have won New Hampshire and Jimmy Carter would be the answer to a trivia question today instead of an ex-president.
Issue disagreement was never off the table. Distortions, etc “speal ill” meant personal attacks, etc. Big difference.
Not according to the RINOs. It means that a conservative can never attack a “moderate” on anything or even mention their name but that a “moderate” can and should attack a conservative over anything and everything.
