Black, Staton, Correll, and Dunn have been for Cruz from the beginning. I am glad to see others get on board, but Cruz supports should put those four at the top of their lists.
How does anyone take Delgaudio seriously when his entire thing has been opposing “gay marriage” but he is backing the one guy who was for it a decade before Obama?
Amusing that Anna Lee claims to be a Cruz supporter.
Who does she support?
She previously supported Jeb Bush and then Rubio. Anna will not vote for Trump.
So she can be counted on to not vote for Trump but likely couldn’t be depended upon not to vote for a last minute rule change that would benefit Kasich or the establishment.
Funny to see all these people suddenly start “supporting” Cruz a week before the district convention. Ever since January, the Cruz campaign has only sanctioned four – 4 – people (who have actually volunteered their time to help the campaign through events and phone banking) to run under the Cruz banner (alphabetically) – Black, Correll, Dunn, and Staton.
Heck, Jill Cook told the entire Loudoun GOP that she doesn’t know who she will vote for if selected as a delegate.
I would hope that future reporting will make clear who the campaign has selected rather than now who are Johnny come latelys that just want to be a delegate but have no campaign affiliation.
The Cruz campaign has not selected anyone to represent them other than Dick Black as one of their statewide co-chairs. Four people chose to run supporting Cruz, Black, Correll, Dunn and Staton, but the Cruz campaign never selected them. They are self selecting. Some did volunteer work to get out the vote for the primary, some did not.
The other delegates supported various candidates but now we’re basically down to two candidates, Trump and Cruz. Delegates to the 10th district convention need to know who all these candidates will vote for on a second ballot at the convention. I don’t care at all if they have phoned banked for Cruz or if they are a busy working parent who is just as dedicated to voting for him on a second ballot. Jill Cook will not vote for Trump on the second ballot, neither will the other candidates who have said they will vote for Cruz on the second ballot. We feel that delegates voting in the 10th district convention need to know how ALL the National delegates will vote on the second ballot. It matters not if they are ‘Johnny Come Latelys” because that’s where we are now, a choice of Cruz or Trump and voting delegates in the 10th need to know which their candidates will be choosing in Cleveland. It matters where the candidates are now, not where they were in December.
Agree. There are lots of people I know who are “self-selecting” Cruz and have applied to be delegates.
I stand corrected, and apologize for the misstatement. The Cruz campaign has endorsed 4 delegates, Black, Staton, Correll, and Dunn. The others were not Cruz supporters from the beginning but came on board once it got down to two candidates, Trump or Cruz. Some have said they would open to a nomination from the floor of a candidate not yet considered. (Someone like Paul Ryan.)
Those people should not get votes then.
Actually, that is not correct. The Cruz campaign has endorsed four candidates for delegate in the 10th District. Senator Black, Mick Staton (me), Baine Dunn, and Beau Correll.
Given that I am district co-chairman for Ted Cruz with Mark Sell, interviewed with the campaign for the national delegate position, was honored to be selected, and then thereafter sent my forms in it is obviously news to me, in your opinion, that I was not selected by the campaign to represent them as delegate to the national convention.
It’s fine if people self-select for Cruz a week before the district convention when they see the writing on the wall but the truth is that campaigns frequently vet who they want to represent them. For example. the Trump campaign occasionally flies people to New York to interview as delegate.
I was happy to be selected by the Cruz campaign and it was important to me to have their backing before sending my form in.
Interesting results. William Wilkinson and Anna Lee are really, really, really liberal republicans so I’d be really surprised if they are actually a Cruz people. Sounds like bandwagon people. I don’t know some of these people but this is interesting!
Wilkinson was Fiorina, then Rubio, now Cruz.
