This coming weekend, Saturday December 5, the Republican Party State Central Committee will be meeting to determine the new administration of RPV. Given the fact that Rich Anderson and Mike Schoelwer finished 1st and 2nd respectively with previous Chair Jack Wilson finishing a distant 3rd, it was obvious that the Party base wanted change.
Now the State Central can give the Party faithful the change that they want by supporting Mike Schoelwer over Kristi Way. However you may feel about Mike, there are certain facts about Kristi Way that cannot be denied:
- She was the former Chief of Staff for Eric Cantor, and after Cantor lost in 2014, she became Executive Director of the DC office of Moelis and Company (under Cantor’s tutelage). Moelis and Company is a large investment firm, and Way is the Executive Director of the lobbying arm.
- In 2020, the firm of Moelis and Company donated $483,405 to federal races, most of these donations going to the Democratic National Committee, Joe Biden for President, and Pete Buttigieg for President. Of that above listed amount, only $20,000 went to Republican causes – none of which went to Trump for President or Virginia Republican causes. (See donations at opensecrets.org or the link below in comments.)
- Kristi Way left the Republican Party of Henrico County after Brat beat her boss Eric Cantor in a primary. Way only returned in 2020, once she determined that she should be anointed as the Vice Chair of RPV.
Kristi Way is clearly not a team player. Seems she only is interested in the GOP when there is something in it for her. The Party base has clearly called for several things. Among them are a call for defeating Democrats and a return of power to the base, not the Party elites. Kristi Way clearly has not learned this message, and is likely incapable of doing so. All the more reason to vote for Mike Schoelwer for RPV 1st Vice Chair.
