Governor Northam has set a goal of 50,000 COVID shots per day. At present, his health department is getting an average 15K injections per day into the arms of Virginians.
Let’s look at the math. There are approximately 8.5 million Virginians. Each of them would require 2 shots of the Covid vaccine to be fully immunized so we need 17 million doses to be administered in the commonwealth.
According to our friends at bluevirginia.us this means:
- At 15k/day, that would be 450k/month…about 38 months to get everyone fully vaccinated.
- At 25k/day, that would be 750k/month…about 23 months to get everyone fully vaccinated.
- At 50k/day, that would be 1.5m/month…about 11 months to get everyone fully vaccinated.

The Governor’s goal is 50K inoculations per day! That means it will be almost a year before everyone is immunized from COVID-19, IF and that’s a big IF, Northam meets his goal. Of course not everyone wants vaccinations, and we’re not sure when children will begin receiving their shots, but at the current rate, Virginians will wait over 3 years before we are all fully vaccinated.
How many Virginians will die because Ralph Northam didn’t set up distribution sites for the vaccine months ago? He knew the vaccines were coming, Trump announced it over and over. Why weren’t distribution sites established in schools, churches, community centers, hospitals, urgent care, doctor’s offices, pharmacies, and many other places? According to Northam, half of Virginians are now eligible to get the shot but the reality is they can’t get it. They have nowhere to go to get it. Why is Northam’s administration just now trying to get points of delivery set up and why is the process so cumbersome? Oh, yeah, it’s a bureaucracy, run by Democrats.
