Voters in Warren County have many choices when it comes to the ballot this November. Among them are the Board of Supervisors Fork District in Warren County, School Board in the North River District, and filling out a term for the Front Royal Town Council.
Here the choices are rather obvious – Warren County voters should choose the following:
Vicky Cook for the Fork District Board of Supervisors seat
Melanie Salins for the North River School Board seat
Amber Morris for the Front Royal Town Council seat
Antoinette Funk in the Happy Creek School Board District
Al Gunn (write in) for Fork District School Board
Quite frankly these choices are no brainers. Vicky Cook will be an outstanding Board Member, she brings a great wealth of knowledge and experience to this race. Vicky’s platform is also a conservative’s dream. Vicky wants to accomplish the following:
Vicky’s Vision is to increase the quality of life where our residents can live, work, and raise their families. She will:
• Uphold individual choices to assemble, speak, and protect our families
• Keep taxes low, simple, transparent, flatter, and fair for all residents
• Ensure all public safety departments have current apparatus and resources to protect themselves and the public
• Work with the School Board for “common solutions” that benefit our children, parents and teachers
• Ensure that community safety, services and enhancement projects are top priority
• Promote economic growth and employment that brings quality jobs and benefits
• Protect and preserve our natural resources from negative environmental factors
Second we have Melanie Salins for School Board. Melanie is clearly a part of the future of the conservative movement. As a mother of 2, she knows best for kids what parents and kids need from their schools, and will be a voice against CRT and wants to help lessen the burdens to bring more school choice into Warren County. Melanie was appointed to the School Board in July of 2021, and has been a leader for what the kids and parents want.
Melanie’s opponent is Angela Robinson. Ms. Robinson pretends to be a conservative, but she has been endorsed by elements of the Warren County Beer Party. The Beer Party is an interesting group of people. They claim to be “Beer Drinkers and Independent Thinkers” but go to their FB page and all you’ll see is a group of people whining about how we’re all dying from the Coronavirus to how anyone who disagrees with their candidates is a conspiracy nut. Others talk about how anyone who doesn’t wear a mask is a public health nuisance and how all Republicans are cult members. Other Beer Party Members joke about people who died from COVID that never took the vaccine.
From Melanie:
“it’s very important that every child get the best education possible. There’s also a lot of students in Warren County who go to private school as well and I would like to see our private school system really work together with the home-schoolers because I think there are a lot of families that could benefit from a hybrid-style of learning,”…… I know there are a lot of parents I talked to through COVID … they’re working, they don’t have time to home-school full time but would have loved an opportunity to have hybrid learning.”
Last but certainly not least is my dear friend Amber Morris. Amber grew up in Warren County, is a mother of 3, a strict constitutionalist, and understands that a government that governs best is that which governs least. Amber is, like Melanie Salins, a face of the future of the conservative movement inside CD 6. Amber is a former Chair of the local Habitat for Humanity, wants to also work on blighted Town properties and update the Town Code.
From Amber:
“I would also just work to continue forward on the town codes and the zoning that they’ve been working to update,” Morris said. “Something that a lot of people don’t know is there’s more than 80 boarded-up buildings within the town limits right now.
“The fact that there are so many blighted buildings affects everything else that I plan to do on my campaign, which is partially improving the aesthetics, bringing and incentivizing new businesses to come here. So I would just work on the Town Code and the planning and zoning commission to hold these (property) owners accountable and to assist them and to offer support and find out why they’ve sat. Some of them have sat the way that they’re sitting right now for my entire life.”
“The town should support property owners by offering resources and tools in an effort to rehabilitate blighted properties rather than use more aggressive means like eminent domain”
Antionette Funk is running for School Board in the Happy Creek District. Funk has been a school principal and is running on a platform of fiscal sanity and making sure that the taxpayer dollars go into the schools and not the bureaucracy. Funk has great conservative credentials and will also stand up to the leftists who want to have the bureaucracy run our schools. Funk will also work with teachers to make sure that they and our kids have what they need to succeed. Funk has taken on the Warren County School System before in court and won’t hesitate to take on the bureaucracy again.
Funk – a lifelong educator and a dynamo, will be able to get things done on the Warren County School Board.
From Antoinette:
“I just want to make sure we’re doing right for our students, utilizing the large amounts of money that is now being given to public school systems due to the (COVID-19) pandemic,” Funk said. “You know, I want to make sure that we are using that money to best serve our students academically.
“I think we do have a few weaknesses in the county and we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to provide services for all students,”
Al Gunn is a write in candidate for School Board from the Fork District. Al, like so many others involved this year, never saw himself running for office – but the radical turn that the Democrat Party has taken left him no choice, and Al is running on a pro-child agenda that includes:
Say NO to CRT
Say NO to the Teacher Unions
Say YES to teaching students HOW to think – not what to think
Say YES to preparing students for good paying jobs
As per usual, Warren County has been taking the lead on taking back Virginia at the local level. And with these candidates on the Board of Supervisors and School Board, they’ll do so once again!
Say YES to Funk, Cook, Morris, Gunn, and Salins – and say no to Critical Race Theory and radical leftism in our schools!
