This past weekend, 6th Congressional District GOP Chair Jennifer Brown stated that I have been going on an “apology tour” and that I owe an apology to the Second Amendment Community for claiming credit for the work of others. Since my opponent insists on making false accusations, I feel must correct her.
The Republican Party of Virginia committed multiple acts of political malpractice in the 2019 election. Among them are:
- Not running candidates in each Legislative District – something which also occurred repeatedly in the 6th Congressional District.
- Not running one ad against a sitting Governor and Attorney General who wore blackface, and a sitting Lt. Governor who has had credible allegations of sexual assault made against him.
- Voter lists are so out of date that they often show known Democrats as being hardcore Republicans.
There is no “apology tour”. I am openly and honestly talking to Republicans around the district about these problems because Republicans are concerned about them and the election results that these problems caused. These must be addressed by leadership and I want people to know I intend to address them if chosen as the next Chairman.
On the second false accusation, the facts are as follows:
- As a Member of the Strasburg Town Council, I wrote the original version of the 2A resolution which passed unanimously on Council. The current makeup of the Town Council of Strasburg is 2 Tea Party Members, 2 moderate to conservative Republicans, 2 likely Democrats, and 2 known Bernie Sanders Supporters. I shepherded the 2A resolution through by working with other people who have philosophical differences. I succeeded at getting a resolution written and passed despite those differences.
- After a request from conservative activists in New Market Virginia, I wrote for them a resolution in support of the second amendment which passed unanimously on the New Market Town Council.
Jennifer Brown’s recent false accusations can be added to the long list of her actions that have further divided 6th district republicans rather than united them since the last convention. If chosen to lead the 6th district, I will continue the work I have been doing of bringing people together in pursuit of our shared goals as chairman.
