Looks like Rand Paul got what he wanted. I watched the CSPAN coverage of the Senate debate (Sunday evening) and there was a lot of back and forth, a lot of passionate speeches from those for and against, but in the end those who were in favor of renewing the law weren’t able to stop it from expiring. Not only that, they’ve apparently settled on passing the House bill which would modify the law, so the law as it is will be gone at midnight. Whether you like Paul or not, you have to give him a +1 for doing exactly what he said he was going to do, exactly when he said he was going to do it.
Rand Paul lost me when he blamed GOP hawks for ISIS. Now he needs to tell America’s Liberty PAC … please no more help!
Sorry, but the America’s Liberty PAC is his one and only campaign approved PAC. Not a tightly wrapped campaign effort to say the least, but I suspect it will be good for a few laughs.
My first post went missing for reasons unknown (it wasn’t mean spirited or anything, so ???)
I don’t see what the big deal is about the advertisement, I’ve seen much more playful nonsense advertisements in Virginia elections and nobody says a thing about that. Besides, read comments from Rand Paul’s actual supporters and you’ll see who he is trying to reach, and they’re going to take this as the joke its meant to be. It’s Internet/youth culture, folks, no different than Obama talking to Glozell Green (look that up on youtube if you want crazy) or people appearing on the Daily Show.
For people irritated by the ad, I seriously doubt you were the PAC’s target audience.
It’s beginning to look as if no matter who is elected as the next President we are going to be in big trouble! Big trouble.
Oh, and this has to be the worst campaign ad I can ever remember seeing. I have no real opinion either way of Rand either.
If one wants to reach out to a corrupt society for their vote, it would seem that they should use a corrupt ad?
How exactly is this reaching out to the ” disappointed, disaffected, and disillusioned” as one commenter claims, seems to me it is more like reaching out to the WWE fan boys and girls, who would favor a tag team smack down over those silly primaries. There are “low” information voters, but there few if any “no” information voters, which I believe this silly cartoon is attempting to reachout (?) to. Do the Rand Paul people and his team really believe this is a baseline for engaging with today’s millennials? Did no one read Quinn Reichard’s recent OP-Ed blog commentary here at TBE? I’m a long way past miillennial status, but I believe while cultural trends shift in every generation the basic desire for individuals to expect some level of respect from others is still a base concept. I would confidently state if you actually polled real, live millennials (not these stereotypes) on their reaction to this piece of doss you would NOT find a lot of positive reaction. There is something very amiss in the Rand Paul campaign organization (and not just his tendencies to constantly shove his foot in his mouth). The more I see and hear from him the more I see some very undesireable characteristics I associate with Barack Obama. He is just not ready for the significant challenges of the executive office.

True, I got the monster truck stuff. I am not THAT old. This ad is unbelievably stupid.
First, I should say that I am biased. I like Rand Paul. He is my favorite candidate going into this campaign season. Walker is a close number two. While people of our age and disposition may find this ad somewhat distasteful and annoying, it is designed to bring in the type of voter who is not normally motivated by political maneuvering during the early stages of primary campaigns. Probably more than anyone else in the field, Rand Paul understands the terrain of the battleground. Republicans can simply no longer win by winning over the Jeanine Martins and Mark Jaworowski’s of the world. They need to reach out to those who are disappointed, disaffected, and disillusioned with the status quo. Perhaps we should get used to this sort of appeal to the hordes of low information voters.
