With five states yet to vote Republicans have already broken the record for primary voters. 28 million Republican voters have cast ballots in primaries to date. Much of this is due to Donald Trump’s appeal to Independents and Democrats. More here.

Absolutely nothing in this data to support your contention that the record turn outs are due to independents and Democrats. Nothing to support you opinion presented here as fact, period. Did independents and Democrats cast primary votes for Trump, yes quite likely, are they the driving force in the vote turnout, I am doubtful. There is a very large body of working and middle class voters in the country that have left the ballot box and the party system behind or been so disenfranchised that they no longer engage at all. He has pulled in a lot of new voters and reengaged voters that the Republican party has so thoroughly alienated over the years with it’s policies. It’s ridiculous to content that Democrats are going to be a significant voting block in electing Trump any more then then they were in electing Reagan. This reality needs to sink in for a lot of Republicans who can’t seem to face the reality of the parties failures throughout the Bush years.
A heck of a lot of it is also due to Republicans who’d given up and stopped voting for the same ol’ Establishment types. The Donald brought them back to the party.
And we should include Republicans of course. For how many years has the party elite preached growing the party, and outreach, and appealing to democrats and independents — and it’s Trump that does it. (And have you noticed how he seems to piss them off?)
The Donald has been the best thing that’s happened to the GOP since Reagan!
