Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA10) has joined democrats in demanding the White House tell Congress what classified information was disclosed in Trump’s meeting with the Russians. From the Washington Post,
“Once again we are faced with inexplicable stories coming from the White House that are highly troubling,” Comstock said in a statement about the information President Trump acknowledged sharing last week with Russia’s foreign minister that may have jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.
“We need to have immediate classified briefings on what occurred at this meeting so that Congress can at least know as much as Russian leaders and know the impact on our national security, our allies, and our men and women protecting our country,” she wrote.
Referring to the firing of FBI director James Comey, Comstock said,
“Both Democrats and Republicans attacked the FBI Director at various times for various reasons and called for his ouster,” she said in a statement about Comey’s termination. “However, I can’t defend or explain tonight’s actions or timing of the firing of FBI Director James Comey.”
About Russia and the election, she said: “There must be an independent investigation that the American people can trust.”
Comstock also broke with Republicans when she voted against the American Health Care Act.
Five Democrats are vying for the chance to run against Comstock for Congress in 2018.

I’m sorry to say Ms. Comstock has bowed to pressure from her extremely vocal constituent Left and become a full RINO. No townhalls, to eliminate their tactics (indivisibleguide.com), meaningless grandstanding statements that please the Left and torque off the right/center in her district. I do wish a more conservative candidate comes forward from the Right to challenge her. She has lost both my vote and my campaign contributions.
Barbara would do better to concentrate her energy on Draining the Swamp, but the problem appears to be that she is the Swamp.
If the 10th wasn’t becoming more liberal everyday, I would say time to consider whether to Cantor Comstock.
As my wife Anne told me in 2006, “If my representative is going to vote like a Democrat and act like a Democrat, I might as well vote for the real thing.” IF you are a Trump supporter, what’s the point?
She was never concerned when Bush and Cheney started WW3
Why are all her opponents Democrats? Comstock needs a Republican opponent. Her claims to be a conservative are completely false.
And yet, all you crazies her still stand by your man. Wow! Just wow!
The Democrats continually point out that Republicans do not know how to govern, and this press release from Rep. Comstock is a classic example. There is nothing in her committee assignments that would be enhanced by the briefing she is demanding. Instead of working hard on moving forward the President’s agenda on infrastructure and jobs, things that ARE the focus of her committee slots, she is bowing to Democrat demands designed to weaken the authority of the now majority party. The people in the 10th District are looking for real tax reform NOW and real solutions to the health care mess the Democrats forced on us. Stop this nonsense and get down to the real work!!!
Agree 100 percent!
Attention everybody! It seems most of you are not aware that Obama is no longer President. I know, you think I am lying. But, it’s true. And also, the Republicans control both the House and Senate.
I wish there was something I could do to convince you people that Obama is no longer President.
Well then you may as well elect a real Dem this next cycle. Why settle for a wannabe?
Comstock won’t meet her constituents demands for a town hall, but demands a meeting with the President.
More grandstanding.
So when is Tax and Spend Barbie going to demand to know why Hillary had all that highly classified information on the server in the bathroom???
Great point. Hillary had no authority to declassify anything but violates the law thousands of times and nothing happens. Trump, as sitting President, can pretty well do whatever he darn well wants and hasn’t broken any laws. And, yet, Clinton who should be in jail is being ignored.
Oh, and let’s not forget Huma Abedin emailing classified information to her husband “Carlos Danger”. Hmmm… not a peep from Ole Babs on that one either!
Why don’t you ask Trump and Sessions why Hillary is not being locked up? You do realize that Obama is no longer President don’t you?
Apparently you do not understand. Neither a President nor an Attorney General can just “lock her up.” There must first be an investigation, followed by a trial.
Trump believed that politically, it would be unwise to pursue Clinton, despite the strong evidence of her criminal activity. I believe that is the right decision. Democrats have lost their minds just because Trump won. I can only imagine the reaction if their hero Hillary were indicted. Thus, he decided to go easy on her.
You ask David if he understands that Obama is not president now. That’s a curious question since he did not mention Obama. The real question is not whether David understands that Obama is no longer President but whether you have accepted that Trump is now your President.
Trump is president, I don’t play into that Limbaugh BS about Democrats not accepting that. I am neither Democrat or Republican. I am American.
You don’t seem to understand, the investigation of Hillary has been completed. Trump promised some type of special prosecutor or something to that affect. He started the “lock her up” campaign. It was all a lie, just like Trump is nothing but a lie.
Democrats have not lost their minds because Trump won no more than Republicans lost their minds when Obama won. Republicans never accepted Obama as president, because he was black.
The Democrats are only mirroring the Republicans behavior towards Obama. The difference is that Trump cannot handle the pressure. He is cracking in just a few months.
I predict the special prosecutor will speed up the inevitable.
So now you think you are some sort of Superman and can read minds? You claim to not only know that “Republicans” never accepted Obama as President, but somehow you also think you know that they didn’t accept him “because he was black.” I wish I had your special abilities to read minds. That must come in very handy. I’ll bet you’re a real whiz at poker!
But your special talent has failed you. I objected to Obama’s policies, not his race. I have frequently commented about specific policies that I objected to and why, and at no time did I ever mention his race. Although there are some racists on both the left and the right, racism is just something with no basis in truth that the left invented to try to demean the right. If Obama was disliked because of racism, then it follows that the only reason that the rather demented hatred of Trump is also because of racism, so I can only assume that you are indeed a racist yourself.
How many times did you see a crowd of Republicans marching through the streets shouting, “Not my President”? I’m going to go out on a limb and say zero – especially since no such scene was ever covered by the news. Yet we have seen over and over again groups claiming that Trump is “not my president” and publicly using obscene language to describe just how much he is hated.
As far as Hillary is concerned, Trump declined to continue with any further investigation into her antics. However, there is enough evidence of multiple crimes that would have been prosecuted previously if her name were not Clinton. Apparently, if your name is Clinton you need not follow the law. I note you never proclaimed innocence – just the failure to prosecute.
I have no idea what Limbaugh claims, or any other right-wing commentator, nor do I mimic the opinions of others. I’m not even a fan of Trump, but a fan of truth – and my opinions are my own, unlike your silly claim that Obama was not accepted because of his race. Furthermore, that claim along with your comment that Democrats have not lost their minds over Trump’s election discredits anything else you have to say.
You’re a fan of the truth, eh?
1) Did Trump promise if elected that his administration would go after Hillary? Yes or No?
2) Did Trump promise us over and over, a fantastic, wonderful, affordable healthcare plan for all? Yes or No?
3) Did Trump promise Mexico would pay for the Wall? Yes or No?
4) Did Trump promise to get tough with China? Yes or No?
I stand by my comments. Trump is kicking his own-self out of the While House. And finally, VP Pence has gone into hiding. Why?
You really think Democrats are going to just walk away from this;

I am not here to defend Trump. I would hold on on your criticisms if I were you because he’s only been in office less than 4 months. It took Obama 2 years to pass Obamacare. What makes you think Trump should accomplish everything in less than 4 months?
Cute trick changing the subject, though. Does that mean you no longer have Superhuman powers to read minds? No answer to my questions. How many times did you see a crowd of Republicans marching through the streets shouting, “Not my President”? What about my other questions? I’ll answer your questions only if you answer the ones I asked first. Your act of changing the topic is real cute and one you often employ. It shows you’ve been bested, but don’t want to admit it. I’m waiting.
In less than 4 months, Trump has;
1) came out with a terrible healthcare proposal, far worse than Obamacare.
2) tried to get money out of me to pay for the wall, instead of Mexico.
3) said he will most likely not go after Hillary
4) said he will not get tough on China because he needs them
5) many, many, other lies and broken promises.
Have you answered my questions yet?
Huh? Well, here is one link. When you’ve got a month or two with nothing else to do, just Google “Obama not my president” and you can spend a couple months reading articles and looking at the pictures.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/column-obama-is-not-my-president/
Not the same as massive protests in the street with thousands of people shouting “Not my President! and plenty of obscenities against him” These are well-organized protests by known democrat groups, not a few idiots acting on their own or in very small groups. So that’s one question but you still ignored the others. But you need not bother because I’m done with you. Clearly, you don’t want a debate, you just want to be argumentative – which is the kindest way I can describe you. Other words certainly came to mind before that one.
The bottom line is that Trump has to deliver as promised. And he has to be a fighter for us, otherwise we have no use of him. I’ve read the thread between you and Mr. Portugui. What we all need to see is some performing. As impatient as I am, I give Trump the full first years to see same real traction. By the end of twelve full months, we ought to have a read good read on where all this Trump stuff is going.
I agree that Trump has to produce, and a year is normally a reasonable amount of time. Personally, I will give him longer solely because of the daily attacks from the left. This is an attempt at “Death by Thousand Cuts”. with the daily barrage of attacks. I am also impatient, but I realize that a lot of his time and attention necessarily have to go toward the accusations made against him.
Congress also has to cooperate. Much of Trump’s agenda will require that Congress work with him. As it stands right now, I don’t see the Republicans in Congress supporting him; and, of course, it goes without saying that the democrats will never cast a single vote toward anything that Trump wants – even if they want it, too.
I’ve been voting and following politics for 4 and a half decades. Never have I seen so much opposition against one president. Never has the media been so gleeful about destroying someone. Never has the media run with stories that are unsubstantiated or worked directly with a political party to present such one-sided news. Never have I seen such coordinated efforts to bring down an American president.
I believe Trump will survive the onslaught, but I don’t minimize the severity of the attacks or the effects of the GOP’s failure to show support for him. (Some Republicans on Capitol Hill appear to be Democrats in Disguise.) These will consume a great deal of time and energy, making it impossible to enact his programs in the immediate future. Sad but true, the Democrats have been successful so far in stopping Trump’s agenda, and if they continue (which they will, of course!), I will cut him some extra slack and give him more time. We are not living in “normal” times, and therefore, the “normal” rules and expectations do not apply.
I agree on the ‘longer than a year.’ But certainly we should see discernible trending by year’s end projective of forward movement. And I particularly concur in your closing remarks on ‘not normal times.’ My only addition is that the political base needs to firm up and push hard on all the sell-out cucks, both in Congress and in our own General Assembly.
‘Conservative’ blather minus real traction can no longer be tolerated any more than the equally lunatic rant from the Left. Although many in the older generation are rather daft in the head, the younger generations are not as likely to tolerate much in the way of crap. They have spent much time in the insanity of public schools, and huge numbers don’t buy the nonsense. The young are indeed a very hopeful, encouraging sign of the future.
The fact of the matter is that Trump has to either do something about the enemies in his midst or be eaten alive. It is either win or lose for Trump. There is no middle ground. This I take as a given.
This said, I am giving Trump the full first full year to begin to show his stuff, one way or the other. It takes some time to work one’s way into things and do it smart. And only fools run rashly into a landscape without knowing the lay of the land or who does what.
The above sentiments are not a Trump apologetic. Trump must either perform upon his promises to the American people, or be cast off the train which bears his name. For now, I am giving the President some time with the hope that the Trump presidency will not end up being just one more disappointment on the road to ruination.
You see, there you go. Hillary is not being charged or investigated because Trump and Sessions do not want the Clinton accusations pursued. It is the Republicans who are not pursuing the Clinton issues, not the Democrats. The Republicans have control of the House, Senate, and WH. Yet, you people are still blaming the Democrats and Obama. Amazing……
So, just as Bush 43′ would not go after Kaine, Trump will not go after Clinton. Can’t you understand that?
Comstock will do well challenging Trump’s flat out lies. Such as the BS about the Trumpcare plan, and China, and his weakness on the world stage.
Don’t you people remember the Trump accusations about Obama not being born in America, and Trump saying he had sent a detective out to Hawaii to look into the 0bama birth certificate. And what McConnell said about Obama in 2010? And you people are flat out stupid enough to believe that what goes around does not come around?
I don’t know who “you people” are supposed to be, and I didn’t blame Obama and the Democrats for anything… I merely pointed out Comstock’s hypocrisy in her demands. I don’t know what you are so butt-hurt about, but I suggest you brush up on your reading comprehension.
Barbara Comstock, the John Mcain of the House. The first line of this article says it all, “Barbara Comstock joined the Democrats”.
She could learn a lesson from Frank Wolf here, just be quiet about this and focus on the real issues.
Better still, she should learn lessons from Tom Garrett and Dave Brat and govern as she was elected….Conservative Republican. Her voting record on Conservative Review, FreedomWorks, and Heritage is an “F” not much better than Gerry Connolly’s.
Perhaps the bedfellows are not so strange in this case.
