Here’s a budget cutting idea; let’s replace Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and Andy Harris (R-MD) with guest workers! Why not? Evidently, more guest workers are the answer to massive unemployment and underemployment that is somewhere over 11%, incredibly high teen unemployment, shrinking workforce participation, big increases in poverty and food stamps, and falling wages.
I say this because Goodlatte and Harris are co-sponsors of the first immigration “reform” of the Ryan era, Strengthen Employment and Seasonal Opportunities Now (Season) Act or H.R. 3918 that will greatly expand H-2B seasonal work visas by allowing visa holders of any previous three years to be excluded from the H-2B caps. H-2B’s are for non-agriculture jobs such as cooks, construction workers, truck drivers, hospitality and theme park employees, among others. Is this how the new America works? We have systemic cronyism and corporate welfare for big business, unending farm subsidies, research and grant boondoggles – married to visa programs that can’t be tracked (40% of illegals simply overstay visas) to drive down American employment and wages where possible.
Here’s an idea; instead of H-2B visa expansion for guest workers, how about cutting the White House and Congressional operational budgets by 10% and using the proceeds as a tax incentive to hire Americans for these jobs. Just saying.
