The following cover letter was addressed from the Appomattox County Republican Committee to:
Chairman Melvin Adams, 5th Congressional District of Virginia Republican Committee
Chairman Rich Anderson, Republican Party of Virginia
Secretary Sabra Gear, 5th Congressional District of Virginia Republican Committee
Secretary Jill Cook, Republican Party of Virginia
BCC: the various unit chairmen and State Central Representatives of the 5th Congressional District
At the Committee’s meeting yesterday afternoon (December 12, 2020), a Resolution of Censure against exiting Congressman Denver Riggleman was presented, seconded, and unanimously passed by the Committee membership. Per the request of the Resolution, a copy is to be sent to the aforementioned list of Party officials. Hence, this email. The Resolution is attached for your reading and has also been posted to our Facebook page.
In addition, I would like to note that our Committee has increased membership to nearly 50 persons since June’s 5th District Convention. This Resolution was presented by one of these new members who was passionate about supporting our nominee and President. It was then seconded by a member who joined in 2016 because of support for then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign. This context helps in explaining the text and tone of this censure and its ultimate purpose: support of our Republican nominees as our State Party Plan requires, and the defense of our shared values as expressed in the Virginia Republican Creed and National Republican Platform to which our nominees and elected Republican officials are supposed to subscribe to.
If any require the minutes of yesterday’s meeting, a copy of such can be provided once the draft is complete. Thank you for your time and for reading this censure resolution.

Appomattox County Republican Committee, Chairman
Resolution of Censure December 12, 2020
Whereas, on June 2nd, 2018, Denver Riggleman was chosen to be the Republican nominee to represent Virginia’s 5th congressional district to eventually win the November 2018 election against Democratic challenger Leslie Cockburn, and,
Whereas, in July 2019, Denver Riggleman officiated a same sex wedding which in turn goes against the values and principles of the Republican Party betraying and disregarding the concerns for the many Conservative and Christian voters in the 5th district who elected Denver Riggleman to the United States House of Representatives, and,
Whereas, on June 13th 2020, Denver Riggleman was defeated in the 5th Congressional District Republican Convention held at Tree of Life by challenger Bob Good who on November 3rd, 2020, defeated Democratic challenger Dr. Cameron Webb, and,
Whereas, on October 19th, 2020, during his appearance with Cable News Network (CNN), Denver Riggleman made claims that he would consider voting for former Vice President Joe Biden for President of the United States stating in that very interview that the actions of President Donald J. Trump as irresponsible and dangerous as well as for refusal to denounce QAnon, and,
Whereas, during his reelection campaign, Denver Riggleman repeatedly used the President’s endorsement to persuade voters to vote for him only in the coming months to harshly criticize and condemn the President, calling the claims of voter fraud as false and for him to concede the Presidential election to former Vice President Joe Biden yet, and,
Whereas, Denver Riggleman himself hypocritically made claims of voter fraud during the 5th Congressional District Republican Convention and refused to concede to the winner Representative elect Bob Good who won the election in a fair and honest race, and,
Now may it be resolved that the Appomattox County Republican Committee censure Denver Riggleman for his betrayal to voters in the 5th District who elected him into office in the first place, for betraying the very morals, principals, and values of the Republican Party, for his petty, immoral, and ludicrous behavior before and after the 5th Congressional District Republican Convention, and for his open consideration to vote for former Vice President Joe Biden instead of President Donald J. Trump.
Now may it be further resolved that a copy of this resolution be distributed upon the minutes of the Appomattox County Republican Committee and a certified copy be sent to the Chairman of the 5th Congressional District Republican Committee, to the respective Chairmen of the Republican Party of other counties within the 5th Congressional District, and to the Chairman and Secretary of the State Central Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia.
Passed unanimously by the Appomattox County Republican Committee on December 12, 2020.
