Recently candidate for supervisor in Sully District of Fairfax, Brian Schoeneman, released a flyer with ridiculous lies about John Guevara that included Guevara had never mentioned his pro life stance or his support of the 2nd Amendment, among many other distortions. Guevara has talked about each of those issues extensively. Guevara is solidly pro life and pro 2nd Amendment. Both issues are very important to him. MasonConservative.com has published this mailer that responds to some of Brian Schoeneman’s other absurd allegations and distortions.[read_more]

Nothing quite generates traffic like the mention of Brian “I’m a big deal just ask me” Schoeneman!
I fully admit to helping you generate clicks and pageviews. I long ago decided I didn’t care–that I would rather have the truth about the many, many lies you’ve told at least put on record, even if in the short term you would feel some sort of grotesque validation for your indecent behavior.
But the concept of trolling people to generate clicks and pageviews is not a new phenomenon; it’s a well-practiced business model, like Buzzfeed or Perez Hilton. The obvious question is: why doesn’t everyone do this?
And the answer to that is: it depends on what they’re trying to accomplish. If a blogger wants to be a clickwhore, they’ll post rumors and conspiracies and listicles and other posts that lack content but generate controversy.
If they want to promote a cause–like conservative ideology (or at least what they believe is “conservative”)–or provide information or in general not be a shitbag of a human being, they shy away from that, or at the very least have the decency to pretend to be ashamed.
The truth is that people get banned in the Establishment blog for posts like yours.
Jeanine practices Conservatism, which believes in free speech. You seem to have a problem with free speech?
Perhaps your comments would better be suited to the the Liberal Republican no free speech blog?
The establisment blog that is afraid of free speech has an article that says that family is ALWAYS off limits????
More lies. Where have they been when right wing establishment hate radio has over and over again attacked Presdent Obama’s wife and children??
Where have you been during those attacks Mr. Kenny? Where? You are such a lier and fake.
You ban what you cannot compete with, the truth. I question your manhood.
At least President Obama took it like a man.
In Virginia, the Board of Supervisors has no authority over public schools. ONE time a year they approve an overall budget amount, period end of story as part of their job description, in seven broad categories. While mail pieces indicating a :pro-school platform” are nice, from supervisor candidates, they are in fact disingenuous or simply ignorance in which case Mr. Guevara needs to do some research on what the job of bos is. Perhaps he is confusing the role of the school board with that of the Board of Supervisors. In reality, a Supervisor can choose to take a supportive role in attending things like graduations, award ceremonious, etc. I field at least two to three calls a week in this office from parents begging Jeff to do something about schools and other than fund them, the school board is autonomous and its is not possible. As far as the funding goes, the bos cannot even in the end direct where the money goes. The school board can make changes if they so desire. So bottom line, even opening the door on where anyones child goes to school has nothing to do with the job of supervisor and should really stop. There is enough confusion about the role of local government. People consider Jeff pro-schools because of his presence in the schools and our personal support of all their activities but we do not have any children. Its about your qualifications and actions not the geography of where anyone actually attends schools.
.
In Fairfax the Board of Supervisors provides 88% of the funding to run the schools. They have complete authority over the schools.
In Caroline of course the percentage is lower and the formula is as I am sure you all know based on the Composite Index which dictates how much the state will provide (based on land values and a variety of other factors) and then the county can kick in a much higher percentage per student if they so chose or not. However again, there is no legal control in any way over the school system through the funding (sure wish it was) unfortunately for many localities who have school boards who need to be voted out of office. Again, once a year, they are handed a list of seven broad line items to say yea or nay to or to come to some kind of compromise. Children, lack there of, attendance at schools either private or otherwise has no bearing on the role of supervisor. Where a potential supervisor’s child attends pre-school today in 2015 is non-issue. Next year he could go to school in California with a relative and the year after than go to boarding school abroad. Its a complete distraction from very real questions which should be asked of all the candidates.
Susan Sili? More like Susan Silly for daring to…ummm….”school” (snort!) Jeanine on the relationship between the BOCS and the SB and the powers granted to each. But then again Susan is absolutely right (her husband is on the Caroline BOCS) and once again, Jeanine is so totally wrong, wrong, wrong. It’s just so entertaining to see someone so smug and arrogant being proved wrong again and again.
Susan’s right, you are wrong. Have a great night.
Am I the only one counting the days until this is particular primary is all over and resolved and the constant haranguing minus much useful communication is finished and the combatants can resort to the more collateral damage friendly approach of spitting at each other from their respective blogosphere cocoons. The voters of Sully will settle this and I believe few are present here.
if this fellow is all about public education, where did he go to college? & where did he get his graduate degree? i ask because you folks in Fairfax have a tremendous budget & alot of govt services/employees. I would think you would want someone with some smarts.
So I’m curious: the flyer identifies him as a Commissioned Officer yet his LinkedIn profile states he received a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Professional Development Ribbon. It also appears he was a reservist in a non-technical role, presumably signals intelligence. Is someone misrepresenting his service?
Desperation.
Good job Jeanine! Keep up the good work.
Attacking people’s kids…..shameful….
Really? How do you construe this in your mind as attacking a child when what it amounts to is a poor attempt to score political points over public education using the choices of your opponent? It is not an insult to a child and no one but a political hack could possibly think its anything but an attempt to downgrade Brian.
It’s not an attack on any child, it’s pointing out a choice Brian Schoeneman has made, to send his child to a very exclusive, very expensive, private school. The press reports the same thing about Obama’s choice of a school for his daughters and no one has ever accused the press of attacking Obama’s daughters for the choice their father makes in where to send his daughters to school. The child doesn’t make the decision the parent does.
An attack on the child would be to say ‘BS’s child is ugly as a mud fence’ or ‘BS’s child is dumb’, that’s attacking the child. But this piece doesn’t do that, it states the choice of the parents to send their 4 year old to school that costs $31K a year, an amount most parents cannot afford and wouldn’t spend on a 4 year old if they could afford it. https://www.flinthill.org/tuition/ But to each his own. That’s a choice Brian makes, not his adorable little boy.
Your absurd spin screams “Desperation”!
why does this matter? Jeanine, if Fairfax doesn’t have a 4 yr old school option, then Brian & his wife have made a very judicious choice for their son’s future. isn’t this a good thing?
Yes, I fully support school choice, I just had no idea that working for a union was that lucrative.
see my response above. this has nothing to do with unions
Are you implying that Brian should be seen as different than any other union worker who relies on a union paycheck for a living?
How is this not being hypocritical?
Either Brian is just like any other Union worker or he is not. He appears to be trying to have his cake and eat it to. Isn’t this about the hypocrisy? Is he a pro union Republican or not? Where is he on minimum wage? Or, is he really a Democrat when it suits him? Where is he? Does he even know?
Does he think the voters are really that stupid? Shame on you Schoeneman!
The only thing we really know about Brian? He is an expert at using a parachute!
Brian barely makes $150k. That’s hardly lucrative, our BMW-driving friend from Lovettsville. But keep trying to turn it into a non-story, the TBE way.
$150 g’s is not lucrative? No doubt you are Republican.
Wow, that’s all he makes? People I know who make that much can’t afford $31k for pre school. I think your figures may be a bit off. It is you who made the pre school thing an issue.
Yes, I have two BMWs and a pickup truck. Just how is that relevant?
Your husband does a great job providing for you. He must be very pleased with your obsession with another man and his family.
Not nearly as concerned about me as he is concerned about your obsession over me, my cars, my house, my money, my husband, and my life. It’s bizarre and it would be somewhat frightening if we weren’t armed. If you would stop stalking me and obsessing over me, and started working hard, you too might someday have what I have.
You are the poster child for the phrase “get a life”.
A house in Lovettsville and two BMWs — information that you volunteered, incidentally — is no measure of success. It’s about respect. And with the exception of the little collective of lemmings you have assembled in the blogosphere, you command none.
Jeanine, why on earth are you giving out specific information about Brian’s 4 year old kid’s school? Are you posting photos of him at the playground next?
Not cool, consider the consequences of spreading this stuff before sharing it, please.
You are right Jason. After the threats that Brian’s supporters have made against those who don’t support him, who knows what they might do with this information. I will remove any reference to the name of the school despite the fact Brian tells everyone, all over Facebook, and in person where his kid goes to school.
Just who is it that is “using” a 4 year old in campaign ad pictures to garner votes? That is despicable, and shows just how desparate the candidate must be.
Haters gotta hate.
Is that the best you can do?
Nope. But I’m winning, so why expend additional energy?
Have a great rest of your week. See you at the poll in Saturday?
Why? You’ve said over and over that you have no dog in this fight, you don’t even know the players, so why would you be at the poll on Saturday? LOL
Oh, I’m going for the comedy. Figure out who I am yet, Sherlock Martin?
Yes.
What’d the smell give him away?
Jason, why on earth does Bearing Left ban free speech that speaks the truth is the better question?
You got a lot of nerve pulling your head out of the sand and coming in here and telling a Conservative how to be righteous.
Why don’t you clean up your own house? Go back home to Liberal Republican HQ please.
The flyer is goofy in parts. However, Shawn’s hyperbolic “WORST POLITICAL AD EVER!” is just silly. Is this what BearingDrift is reduced to?
Apparently it’s all they got. I’ve never seen such desperation.
“Child attends private school.” Really? We’re using people’s kids now as an attack?
Worst part is it’s not even true! Brian’s child is four years old, and not school age yet. Not that it should even f’n matter.
Schoeneman’s camp should push Guevara on public school funding. I would take the circumstances and mailer and ask so does he want to expand public pre school in the county? I’m sure FFx has a healthy Head Start program but not sure about public pre school. I would assume by this mailer the candidate would like to offer public pre school to all county residents (regardless of need or being at-risk). Expand the scope of FCPS exponentially and increase taxpayer burden for schools taking money away from today’s classrooms.
No kidding. Guevara should have said Brian pays $31,000 a year for a 4 year old to go to a very exclusive pre school where no one sends a 4 year old child unless they intend to send him there for elementary and high school. Who knew that union jobs paid so well? $31K for 15 years of schools prior to college is a fair chunk of change.
If you know anything about what daycare costs on an annual basis, you would realize that $31k/year is not all that expensive. But more importantly, it’s not any of your business how Brian or his wife spend their money on their child. Find something else to criticize.
Find me a private school in NOVA who charges that much for pre school.
I couldn’t care less how Brian spends his money, I am pointing out how well unions pay! Who knew?
Jeanine, doesn’t Brian’s wife work as well? maybe she paid. maybe they won the lottery. maybe the school gives scholarships. maybe they inherited money. maybe a grandparent is paying for the school.
actually, i should shut up. you are making Brian & his wife look wonderful for caring for their son’s education & future.
Caring for their sons education & future with a union paycheck? Isn’t that all any Union worker wants to do?
Parents ALL OVER NoVA spend $2000-2500/month on daycare. Annualized that’s $24000-30000. If this was anyone else, you’d think nothing of it. Because this is Brian, it’s suddenly outrageous.
But I expected nothing less from you Jeanine. Families off limits? Pfft. Keep hating.
Lobbyists parents spend that kind of money on daycare. Brian opened the door by putting his son in his campaign ad pics.
You sound like a typical Liberal Republican. Unions are baddddd, very badddd, that is until “a good ole’ boy” Republican works for one.
I don’t live in Fairfax so I don’t have a horse in this race. But it sure seems that you have an axe to grind with Brian’s child going to school. Isn’t education a good thing?
Jeanine, you sound like a Democrat!
Why? Because I’m pointing out how one can rich working for a union?
Because you are parroting the same lines as those who advocate for class warfare! You’re just a step away from arguing for wealth redistribution.
No, she sounds like a Conservative who is tired of the Establishment.
Great reporting Jeanine! Keep up the good work please. Thanks for BE!
If you want to posture this trashy and childish mailer as a response, you really need to document what it’s supposedly responding to.
