Some of the highest paid employees:
John Broderick a former President of Old Dominion University and now a guest lecture at the university earns the top salary of $941,483, his replacement as President, Brian Hemphill, who came to ODU after serving as President of Radford University. Hemphill earns $500,000 in his first year leading ODU.
In second place for top earnings is Kim English, the men’s basketball coach at George Mason University, earning $925,000.
Next the President of UVa, James Ryan earning $811,125. Charles Phlegar, Virginia Tech’s vice president for advancement and the school’s chief fundraiser has a salary of $731,286. The President of George Mason, Gregory Washington, is paid $682,500 a year.

Paul Sweet, Federal and State positions have always had publicly stated their employees salaries and probably because the employees are being paid with tax dollars.
This is why I dropped my RTD subscription several years ago. I was a state employee at the time and felt that it was an invasion of my privacy for my name and salary to be published.
Virginia citizens have a right to know the range of salaries for different positions at different agencies. However, publishing salaries with names only benefits nosy busybodies and disgruntled employees who feel that someone they are jealous of shouldn’t be making more than they are.
