In poll after poll conducted before the latest immigration dustup, Americans have expressed that they want comprehensive immigration reform. Americans want to legalize DACA and to better secure our southern border.
Let’s look at how Senator Tim Kaine rates on immigration. He has been on a whirlwind tour the last week trashing Trump and trashing the Clinton-era laws that caused the problem in the first place. One picture on his Facebook page showed him meeting with church leaders on immigration.
We all know he would never actually trash a Clinton. He thinks we are stupid and will let him get away with blaming Trump for enforcing the Clinton laws. But, he gets his marching orders from Chuck Schumer, not his constituents, and Schumer will not permit the wants of the people of Virginia from interfering with the needs of the Party.
Tim Kaine is incensed with immigration policy. He is disgusted by immigration policy. He is indeed acrimonious over the way immigrants are treated. In fact, he is so bent out of shape about it, he has decided to lead from behind.
He is nowhere to be seen on crafting new immigration legislation. Not a peep on suggestions, not a sound on what he believes is a solution, and his name is not floated as a Democratic Senator likely to vote to change immigration law. In fact, he is almost certainly a vote against reform.
Kaine has not always been AWOL on immigration. In 2013, he led the charge to do the exact same thing Trump is trying to do. From Kaine’s official Senate website:
“Tim supported the Senate’s comprehensive immigration reform bill in 2013, bipartisan legislation to provide a better visa system to encourage growth of a talented workforce (Trump), protect Dreamers (Trump), enhance border security (Trump), and create a path to citizenship for those living in the shadows (Trump again).”
So what has changed? Hate is what has changed—deep, bitter, unquenchable hatred. Not Trump’s hate for immigrants which is a lie. But, the hatred of anything Trump does by the political left. That’s right, Tim Kaine is willing to abandon a cause which he previously expressed a passion for, and screw over the vulnerable, to make sure Trump doesn’t get credit (see fmcdonough.com/2018/06/23/hate-at-any-cost/).
What happens when you look at Tim Kaine’s voting record on immigration issues? I mean that’s where you put your convictions to the test. Is Tim Kaine really voting Virginia values?
- Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act (2018) – NO
- Stop Illegal Reentry Act (2018) – NO
- Stop Sanctuary Policies and Protect Americans Act (2018) – NO
- Requires the Completion of the Fence Along the US-Mexico Border – NO
- Requires US-VISIT System to be Established at Every Port of Entry – NO
The most important vote on an immigration issue came in 2015 when Kaine voted to provide full and unrestricted funding for President Obama’s unconstitutional and illegal Executive Amnesties.
The case is clear. Senator Tim Kaine is a team player, just not our team and not the team of Virginians or even most Americans. His team is the Democratic Party. His leader is Chuck Schumer. Schumer’s values are definitely not Virginia values.
I have never understood why representatives of southern and midwestern states feel like they have to represent California values or Chicago values or San Francisco values. Why can’t Tim Kaine dance with the ones who brought him, Virginians?
This fall, a new dance partner is available—Corey Stewart. After a knock-down, drag-out Republican primary, he was the last one standing. His record on immigration as a County supervisor is worth investigating.
His website states “In Prince William County, Corey led the nation’s toughest crackdown on illegal immigration – resulting in over 7,500 criminal illegal aliens being turned over for deportation.”
In that sentence are a few significant points that Tim Kaine cannot get right. He acknowledges a need to challenge illegal immigration, but indicates that in his county they moved to deport CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS. Essentially, he lasers in on the bigger problem—criminals.
Tim Kaine is a threat to the American way of life and Virginia values. Just this issue alone shows how out of step he is with the rest of us. He is even worse on other issues that resonate in the Commonwealth. Let him dance with Chuck Schumer; Virginia can do much better!
