“I believe in Scripture,†the 78-year-old lawmaker said in a statement. “Ecclesiastes says there is a time and place for everything.â€
“This will allow the 200,000 people who live in the 12th Senate District (Henrico and Hanover) to have almost a year’s time to select a successor,†he said.
Senator Stosch is one of the three moderate republicans who supported Governor McAuliffe’s plans to expand medicaid. Â Senator John Watkins, another of the three moderates, is also retiring.
Senator Stosch hopes to spend more time with his 6 grandchildren.

If memory serves, Sen. Stosch was one GOP state senator who, over the years, regularly voted against gun rights.
