No, it’s not April Fools’ Day and this is not a joke. Last weekend Scott York made the decision(again) that he would not run for re-election as Chairman of the Board in Loudoun. Now Firewallnova.com is reporting that Shawn Williams is running for the position. [read_more]
Williams was serving as Vice Chairman of the board under Scott York. He stepped down as Vice Chairman when his background of abuse and drunk driving came to light but he remained on the board representing Broad Run district.
Earlier this year Williams was running for chair until revelations about his past caused him to abandon his candidacy. It seems Williams has had a change of heart and will re-entered the race as an Independent against three other candidates, Charles King the Republican nominee, Phyllis Randall the Democrat nominee, and Tom Bellanca a Democrat who is running as an Independent.
I very much agree with Senator Dick Black’s opinion on a run for chair by Shawn Williams,
“I think for him to run in light of his past problems is entirely inappropriate.”
Shawn Williams should not be sitting on the Board of Supervisors much less running for Chairman. We hope he will again abandon this foolish quest. If Williams continues with this ill-fated run it will be harmful to all the Republican candidates in Loudoun.

I do not know how Shawn can be considered popular? He voted for his apparently kindred spirit to join the ranks of county staff. Leo’s wife decided not to testify against him.

James City County attorney charged with domestic assault
By Amanda Kerr, [email protected] | (757) 345-2345 | January 13, 2012
JAMES CITY — County Attorney Leo Rogers has been charged with a misdemeanor following an investigation by Virginia State Police. On Jan. 6 State Police arrested Rogers, 50, and charged him with one count of domestic assault, a class one misdemeanor. Corinne Geller, State Police public relations manager, said State Police conducted an investigation into an alleged domestic incident involving Rogers at the request of James City Police. Geller said the alleged assault took place in November in James City.
[…] days ago we learned that disgraced Supervisor Shawn Williams is circulating petitions to run for Chairman of the Board as an Independen… The next day the Loudoun County Republican Committee sent out a sharp criticism, not of Shawn […]
I remain very concerned that he clearly has issues with females and voted to hire the county attorney, also having a domestic abuse record. In my opinion, neither is fit to serve. Both lawyers are required to conduct themselves a whole lot better per the VA bar yet have failed to.
There is no way Williams can win, even with developer money backing. This isn’t Las Vegas or New Orleans. Loudoun voters are not going to turn a blind eye to what has been recently revealed. If he breaks double-digits, he’d be having a good election day.
He can only run as a spoiler, and it might not work anyway. I think it is not in Shawn’s personal interests to do this. Why drag one’s family thorough more of this for a job that pays dirt and consumes your life? I think he should just walk away, shore up his personal life, and then re-enter the political ring a few years down the road if he still wants to. He’s still relatively young. There’s plenty of road ahead.
Shawn is a very popular Supervisor. The sour grapes are coming from those who blackmailed him. In the general, there is a very good chance he gets more votes than King. If Bellanca pulls from Randall, then it will be a horse race between Shawn and Randall.
This is purely a sour grapes move by Williams who can only hope to steal votes away from King and elect Phyllis Randall. What’s really sad is that he is trying to make it look like there is an effort to “draft” Williams to run. Please.
This guy should have resigned his seat a long time ago, and shame on the LCRC for not demanding that he do so.
I hope Williams does steal votes away from King. Delgaudio doesn’t need any more influence than he already has.
This is great news. Shawn was bushwhacked by King and his wacko supporters. Shawn will have a tough time but certain provides a conservative alternative to the Delgaudio base of LCRC. He becomes the defacto conservative choice.
Rino has it right…. “hurtful to {whos} party”?
Jeanine…..”hurtful to the party”? Perhaps you, Charlie King and the henchmen should have considered this before taking the low road that you did. Those tactics did not resonate well with a lot of people. I for one, will support Shawn even if the end result is a Phyllis Randall victory.
so bringing up the fact that this maniac beats the sh*t out of women is “the low road?”
The ol’ ‘Shoot the Messenger’? Shawn has behaved horribly and shouldn’t be in public office. Do you really think the Democrats wouldn’t have used the information against him?
It wasn’t Charlie King who made the information public, it was Shawn himself in a letter to the newspapers.
Jeanine….did Charlie threaten to go to the Post with the dirt he collected? Was the threat to have Mr. Williams disbarred ever made? Lets not get caught up in semantics here. Regardless of who broke the news…Charlie King was behind the whole thing and that is obvious to most voters. It’s also obvious he was scared and could not beat Williams on the up and up. So he resorted to bush league tactics. If Williams does run, he will at a minimum be a spoiler and one of the other candidates will win if he does not. Great thinking Charlie.
No, he did not. Charlie wanted to share the information with Shawn in private. Shawn refused so there was more than one person in the room. the other threats are bogus. It didn’t happen.
Are you saying it’s Charlie’s fault if Shawn chooses to run and throw the election to a democrat? Really?
No, No, No and no. Charlie never threatened any of those things. Shawn went to the press, not Charlie. Disbarred? Didn’t happen. It could have all been kept quiet if Shawn hadn’t made it public.
Do you seriously think Shawn could have run against a democrat and none of it would have ever come to light? It wouldn’t have cost the Republican the chairmanship when Democrats put it all out there? Get serious. Shawn shouldn’t be in public office much less be a Republican candidate. Thank goodness we were spared that embarrassment.
Jeanine, Chris B. et all….indulge me in a quick history lesson. In 2007 our Treasurer and Republican, Roger Zurn was CHARGED with Assault on a child. He went to court and the case was dismissed. This all happened while he WAS in office (not 10 years prior) How did you feel about that? Was he an embarrassment to the party? I am not indemnifying Mr. Zurn, as he was not convicted. The hypocrisy is what kills me here. Mr.Williams’ case was dismissed much like Mr. Zurn’s. The only difference is it was against a child and happened while he was in office. The end result was the same. Turns out there were two sides to the story. Click here to refresh your memory. http://www.leesburgtoday.com/news/judge-jacob-dismisses-zurn-case/article_f69dfc27-0019-5e88-8a04-5cdff504f73f.html
I remember that incident well, and it was a non-issue because the facts did not support the charge. In Shawn’s case, he ADMITS that he did it. Roger Zurn took a kid by the arm and removed him from his property. Shawn Williams beat his girlfriend senseless and admits doing it.
Not only that, what about the “wrestling match” Shawn got into with his neighbor, while he was in office? Or the Sheriff’s deputies coming to his house on a domestic violence call, while he was in office?
Are you really trying to defend this man? Really?
nativ
All accusations against Mr. Williams are true as he has admitted to most of them. Look him up in Worcester county courthouse as well as Va.&FL. There were 4 DWIs. I for one was dating him in 2004 where I was thrown down to the ground, my back breaking a coffee table which left me with a scarred gashed elbow. I too ran, reported it to police but later dropped the charges because i didn’t want my family to find out & mostly I was afraid of him & his volatile personality. How can such an educated man behave this way I thought, but I was young & in love. I believe Shawn is sincere when he says he got help for alcohol abuse but this long history of domestic abuse/violence against so many women & others I now read,
makes one wonder…is he still violent? Do men like this ever change. I hope he has for his children’s sake.
Two wrongs don’t make a right, bruh. This guy beats up women, he shouldn’t be serving in public office. Period.
Yikes!
Some nerve, huh?
