Susan Stimpson, the past Chairman of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors, and a candidate last year for Lt. Governor, has endorsed Bob Marshall for the 10th Congressional seat being vacated by Republican Frank Wolf. The Republican Firehouse Canvass is scheduled for this Saturday. Susan cited Medicaid Expansion as one of her chief reasons for supporting Bob Marshall.
Delegate Bob Marshall was one of only two Republican delegates to vote NO to the House Budget Bill 5002.  Did you know that the House budget bill that now sits in the Virginia Senate Finance Committee contains language so broad that the Governor could easily interpret it as authorizing a ‘pilot program’ for Medicaid Expansion in Virginia?  Did you know that HB 5002 contains language that appropriates the money ‘sum sufficient for those newly eligible under the Affordable Care Act?’  You can read right here, section 301 TTT3 and TTT9 (Download here and see the highlighted sections)Delegate Marshall didn’t go along to get along. He fought to stop this deception.
And when Medicaid Expands, even if they call it a different name, I will know that Bob Marshall did all that he could to prevent the catastrophe of Obamacare.
Good people can disagree. Â And whoever wins this nomination, we Republicans will rally around him or her. Â But I just ask you to consider this nomination in a different light than politics as usual. Â I believe we are in a fight for our freedom and it is going to take courageous people like Bob Marshall to represent us in government, to act on Republican principles such as a limited government and to fight for transparency and our freedom.
I hope you will cast your vote for Bob Marshall for Congress on April 26th.
I admire Susan for her stalwart fight against Medicaid Expansion, even when it has required her, in some cases, to oppose her own delegate and Speaker of the House, Bill Howell. She knows that you can’t add 400,000 new people to the Virginia Medicaid rolls and not suffer consequences. Her glowing endorsement is made from a position of principle on this critical issue – which is how I’ve always  known Susan to make her decisions.
I know Susan Stimpson had serious concerns about Barbara Comstock’s campaign website that originally had language that suggested she would be supportive of Medicaid expansion after it was reformed. The infamous phrase that so many General Assembly Republicans have used, “reform and expand,” has not sat well with conservatives and grassroot activists.
The Bull Elephant is conducting a flash poll on this race. If you want to cast your vote, go here.

I just received one of those non existent negative campaign emails from Bob. It is twisting the facts so bad. I cannot stand lies meant to kick fellow Republicans to the curb. Bob is not ethical or trustworthy if he will do this. He is a 23 year establishment candidate who has lots of stupid negative things he has said. He is not the great guy you say. He is also very negative on women outside to home. Bad for this area.
Assuming all that is true, none of it rises to the level of importance of a particular candidate wanting to give Obama license to murder your family.
None of our candidates wants to do that.
Sadly that’s the reality of what NDAA allows. Under this “law” Obama can kill whoever he likes (and remember, he already has a list) and doesn’t need to answer to anyone, or even admit that he did it.
Wow. Can I hear more?
There is no one more ethical and trustworthy than Bob Marshall. He is NOT against women having jobs. Sorry, but that’s just silly. There is no one I would trust more in Congress than Bob Marshall.
The Democrats are hoping and praying for Bob Marshall. The war on women, GL etc., his own foolish words will all be coming out. He will take the 10th blue. There is a reason he was stripped from his leadership powers. If you thought the establishment turned their back on Cuccinelli, well it will happen again. I will hold my nose and vote for him in that case. I live in Bob’s district. I have door knocked and made calls for him. At least he stopped those negative attacks after I personally called him and told him It was not helping his cause. He has no appeal in Loudon or Fairfax. Sat. We will see.
Bob is looking really good on this side of the mountain. I like the momentum… There’s nothing like meeting people and hearing them rail the establishment for such a poor job they have done in Washington. You can’t find a man with better character to put in this position.
Marshall will also do well in much of Loudoun. Western Loudoun is conservative and they like Marshall. With Dick Black’s help to get out the vote, Marshall will do well in Loudoun.
Well I sure got you all talking. Good thing everyone will be signing the pledge to vote for Barbara in Nov. See you at Battlefield HS where I will be working the polls.
Why are you going negative on Bob, grandma?
Marshall has no appeal in Loudoun? That is not true. He part of Loudoun before the redistricting and he was quite popular in Loudoun. He came to LCRC meetings and was always very popular. I agree, he probably doesn’t do over well in McLean.
Why are you so negative ad grumpy about Marshall? Your negativity won’t help your candidate win.
Let’s see… Fimian, Stewart, Jackson, and now Stimpson. Hmmm…
What is it with failed candidates at the statewide or federal level rallying around Marshall? And why would anyone take their endorsement seriously?
You might want to take her seriously, as she’s got a good a shot as anyone at being our next nominee for Governor.
Barbara has voted against Medicaid expansion. Her votes matter. Susan Stimpson is from outside the 10th District. See how much support Barbara has from within the District. The mud those guys are throwing, the lies, the spin, you would think they are good Democrats. Follow Reagan’s 11th commandment do not throw mud on fellow Republicans. Barbara could throw a lot of mud. She does not. She is true to her beliefs.
She has very little support across the mountain. No one wins without taking Frederick county.
And you know that because?
Frederick county = 10% of the vote
Winchester – 3%
Clarke – 2%
That vote share may increase in a Republican primary competition, 70%+ of the district is Fairfax and Loudoun.
3000-3300 will probably win this. We turned out for Mark Berg. And it’s going to be much bigger for Bob gauged by the organization of the effort.
I really hope you are right and the Marshall campaign is aiming to only turn out 3,000 votes.
My percentage estimates are entirely reflective where the population of the 10th District lives. I’m not making any statement beyond the fact that 70% of the district’s voters lives in Fairfax and Loudoun.
Good luck.
I got news for you, Randy. Whomever wins Fairfax and Loudon, wins. It’s just the way it works given the population density of Northern Virginia. Tough luck!
If your right – You should moderate on the Bull Elephant. If I’m right – I should. 🙂 gotta go. Ttyl
Why the hostility to TBE, Randy? You realize you’re writing in the comments section of a post in support of your candidate, right?
Steve. We were discussing the importance of the west side of the mountain. Evidenced by the smiley face “:-)”. Its enthusiasm – not hostility. I’ll try to be more “on topic” in the future.
OK…sorry I misinterpreted. Thanks.
Winchester/Fred turned 1200 votes for Mark Berg who had ZERO dollars in a firehouse primary and unseated a 20yr establishment incumbent with less effort.
Barbara has voted against Medicaid expansion not once, not twice, but five times in the House of Delegates. Her position on the matter couldn’t be clearer. The attempts to paint her as pro-Medicaid expansion are getting old.
If that is the case, then she should… At the very least – fire her web content manager for misrepresenting her. Don’t you think?
Perhaps – but website glitches shouldn’t be blamed on the candidate that has demonstrated again and again that she’s anti-Medicaid expansion. Actions (and votes) speak louder than poorly phrased words.
Personally.. I’m not convinced that was a clerical error or a glitch. Bob approves all content on his site. I’m confidant Barbara does too. The looming circumstantial evidence is overwhelming.
She voted against Medicaid expansion. FIVE TIMES. Including earlier this month in Special Session. That’s all the evidence you need.
But we can’t lie about her positions and say she supports Obamacare unless we discount her voting record, Kate.
Nobody is discounting her voting record. We have talked about it here in very positive terms and I have done so on radio too.
Jamie, do you think she will take frederick county, winchester and Clarke? And if not… Can she win without them?
The distinction is clear between them on this issue. Barbara calls it a “reform” not an “expansion”. Yet she undoubtedly referred to her medicaid aspirations as an “expansion” on her website then she changed it after howie drew attention to the usage of the word. Semantics? Maybe… But
Bob Marshall does not support ANY reform or expansion or whatever Barbara wants to call it now. After reviewing the debates again, All of these nebulous/ content free arguments are in proper perspective. She can call it whatever she wants, there is an enormous difference between what these two bring to the table regarding entitlements.
