Democrats and Jennifer Wexton tout a “voting with Trump” Comstock scorecard but never bothering to tell you what bills are on the scorecard that they are opposed to. When you look at the actual votes, and the bills signed into law, you will find that most of these bills are supported by a wide majority of Americans – and certainly a wide majority of Virginia 10 voters. But not the “resistance” Democrats – they are against most of it. (Scorecard here: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/congress-trump-score/votes/ )
So what is it that Jennifer Wexton and her Resistance pals oppose?
6 tax cut bills – no surprise there – Wexton would fall right in line to raise your taxes and she has a long track record of supporting increased taxes. She’s already promised to repeal the tax cuts which would mean an increase on 90% of Americans and a 40 percent increase on taxes of businesses.
Fully 82% of the bills listed on the “Trump” scorecard were bipartisan bills! Have you heard Wexton mention that?
So what are some of these bipartisan measures that Wexton attacks?
11 votes on cutting red tape and regulations – and 8 of the 11 had bipartisan support.
7 votes to keep the government open and fund the government. Wexton would be all in for the “Schumer Shutdown”.
4 votes on battling the Opioid Crisis
3 votes on Hurricane Disaster Relief
2 votes on “Right to Try” legislation that provides access to new drugs not completely through the FDA process for those with a fatal diagnosis and running out of time.
2 votes to expand Health Savings Accounts
A vote on the Criminal Alien Gang Removal Act – Rep. Barbara Comstock’s bill to remove gang members illegally in the country. 12 Democrats supported the bill, including 4 Members of the Hispanic Caucus but Wexton opposes.
A vote on the STOP School Violence Act which was the top priority bill of the Sandy Hook families. The bill provides resources for school safety and best practices programs for prevention.
A vote Supporting ICE. Many Democrats abstained!
A vote to eliminate the Medical Device Tax
A vote for the Farm Bill
A vote on Banking Reform which even our Senators supported
A vote to make targeted attacks on law enforcement officers a federal crime. (Note to Wexton – this doesn’t include staff dressed up as fake cops in Party City cop uniforms)
A vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment
A vote to Reauthorized the Flood Insurance Program.
So these are the mainstream issues that make the resistance go crazy! But don’t expect the mainstream press to actually talk about the issues and the fact that this is what they actually oppose.
