The Case for Corey Stewart

written by Guest Poster Thomas W. Dees January 9, 2018

The other day, I sat across the table from a small family in Rockingham County, tucked away at the end of a dirt road, in the rural Shenandoah Valley. We had a long discussion about their beliefs, their values, their concerns, and their support for Corey Stewart for U.S. Senate. They were very proud of their Christian beliefs, blue collar upbringing, and were fiercely independent.

Among their concerns are popular themes many people in the western part of our State recognize, but few people in Northern Virginia or Virginia Beach ever talk about – they are forgotten by our state’s leaders. And that includes the Republican Party of Virginia. Republicans, especially the Gillespie campaign for Governor, intentionally ignored this part of the state, assuming that their support was without condition, and the results were disastrous.

In fact, in An enthusiastic, more polarized Virginia electorate gave Northam the win, the Washington Post dives into the 2017 elections turnout, revealing that Democrat Ralph Northam enjoyed a 3 to 1 turnout advantage in Northern Virginia, Central Virginia and Virginia Beach. The Shenandoah Valley and Southwestern Virginia had poorer turnout – they had greeted Ed Gillespie and the RPV with the same enthusiasm on election day that Ed and the RPV had greeted them with all campaign season.

Moving forward, the Republican Party of Virginia simply cannot afford to nominate a candidate who recklessly chooses to ignore this region of the state – which is why Virginia Republicans must elect Corey Stewart for U.S. Senate this June.

Corey Stewart is a proven vote getter with an incredible ability to communicate with these forgotten Republicans in Southwestern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. Many Republicans will recall that Stewart beat Gillespie in this region by as much as 40 points in many counties. But Corey’s appeal goes beyond just that of rural Virginia. Having won at-Large elections in Prince William County numerous times, an area that Northam won by over 20 points, Corey’s base also includes many voters who voted for the first time for President Donald Trump.

We need a candidate that will not shy away from supporting our President and his America First Agenda. In just his first year in office, our President, Donald J. Trump, saw the stock market exceed 25,000 reaching new, historic levels. He oversaw the creation of over 2 million new jobs, an historic tax cut for both businesses and the middle class, and axed the regulatory state – demolishing 22 regulations for every new regulation.

Corey Stewart is unashamed of his support for President Trump and is the bellwether candidate for Trumps America First Agenda in the race for U.S. Senate. This is why conservative leaders like Jerry Falwell and Laura Ingraham have endorsed his campaign – because they know that he is the only candidate that can win and produce results.

Like Trump, Corey Stewart is also a proven results getter. His tenure as Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors has propelled PWC to #1 locality in Virginia for job growth, and #3 in the nation. Corey also kept taxes and spending in Prince William low, saving residents $205 million, and securing a AAA bond rating status for the county — one of only 36 such jurisdictions in the nation to do so. Finally, Corey received national fame for leading the nations toughest crackdown on illegal immigration — resulting in the turnover of almost 8,000 criminal illegal aliens to U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), leading to a 48.7% drop in violent crime. He later won reelection by an even larger margin.

In the upcoming election for U.S. Senate, Virginia Republicans have a clear choice. Corey Stewart is the only candidate in the race with a proven track record of success – he refuses to back down when the Liberal Elites and Republican Establishment are on the attack. Corey has demonstrated himself to be both a proven vote getter and a proven results getter for the America First Agenda.
