Think it cannot happen here, well think again…

Last week at their annual Continental Congress the Daughters of the American Revolution voted to allow transgender “women” to become members of their  organization. For years the Daughters were viewed as the last blue blood bastion of Christian conservancy. Up until the majority vote last week of delegates from across the United States many said this would never happen in their lifetimes. Well think again because it did, despite those members who are now either in denial or submitting their letters of resignation.

Some of my Democratic contacts have stated recently, part of their strategy to win the midterms and beyond and to make the Old Dominion a forever Blue state is to flip our rural areas that are consistently Red. The ongoing strategy is to influence younger voters and women who really do not give a hoot about mainstream conservative issues such as the Second Amendment and LGBTQ+ or whatever the latest make-believe gender letter combination flavor of the day may be.

The point of my rambling is that Republicans in rural areas of the Commonwealth should take nothing for granted and assume this November our candidates and issues are safe due to our past majority in the hinterlands. Like it or not we must not rest on our laurels but meet the opposition head on. Where once Republican leadership pushed back on early voting, they now embrace it. Similarly as Republicans we must do all within our legal means to fight the proverbial fire with fire and beat the Democrats at their own game.

As the Daughters of the American Revolution once thought they were safe from progressivism and social justice, they have now by their own doing embraced it and undone one hundred and thirty-five years of conservative values, tradition, and history by the stroke of a pen. This should be a lesson for us all as we lean forward to November.
