A lot of Christian/Jewish boys names.
No Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, Mary. A lot less Christian than in the past.
True.
It’s surprising Matthew isn’t on the list, it’s been on for years. John was the number one name from 1900 to 1950. Mary was number one all those years as well. She was replaced by Linda.
Michael was the number one boys name every year from 1950 until 2000 when it was replaced by Jacob.
Mohammad is the most popular baby name in London. However, Oliver remains the number one baby name in the UK as a whole, though that won’t last long, because Mohammad has already risen to the number two spot in the UK as a whole too, whereas it was in 95th position just 20 years ago. Europe is changing rapidly.
As far as I can tell, Mohammad is still not a very popular name in Virginia, though it it hard to be sure, because there is no definitive spelling (Mohammed, Muhammed, Mohammad or Mohamed are all examples of acceptable translations, and these variations are not grouped together in the name statistics). As far as I know, there are no Virginia cities where Mohammad rises to the top ten.
So Christian names are still dominant in Virginia, though that can change very quickly, within a single generation, if politicians put their minds to it. The UK has done it already.
