Breaking…Trump for President campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, back in charge, sacks Paul Manafort’s key power struggle allay Rick Wiley, who ran a disastrous Scott Walker for President campaign, blowing through $150 million and not making it past the second debate in Simi Valley, CA.
Wiley’s forced departure is significant, as he was serving primarily as newly installed Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s henchman. Several long time Trump campaign loyalists said Manafort’s overwhelming focus was on consolidating power and elbowing out Lewandowski.
Campaign insiders said Wiley, directed by longtime lobbyist insider Manafort, was primarily focused on digging up dirt on Lewandowski, on Trump’s dime, and was not responsive to the field operation.

I was in Iowa for Bobby Jindal at the start of this marathon and I still haven’t come to grips with how Wiley took an interesting, qualified, hard working candidate like Scott Walker (albeit a little hesitant at times on the stump) and a bucket load of campaign funds (one of the leaders at that time along with Jeb) and manage to send him out of the contest and home immediately after the Iowa caucus, broke despite his solid pre contest poll numbers.
Good at stuffing cash in his and his associate’s pockets NOT so effective in positioning his candidate that had good existing media momentum. The Bush and Walker campaigns may well have been the death toll for the big money, professional advisory, pay to play election model in the Republican party. Trump offloading these two is a wise move in my opinion based on what I’ve seen regarding their contributions in this primary cycle.
Just Trump being cheap. Those guys were hired for the contested convention. Trump thinks that threat’s over now, so he’s saving money.
Or being conservative/prudent with resources, or Trump being loyal, or, or, or. I like the decision.
Maybe prudence, but not loyalty. Loyalty would have been not pushing Lewandowski aside in the first place.
I didn’t see him ever being disloyal to Lewandowski. He brought in a convention SME when he thought it necessary. There is always intrigue in the high council.
Right, I agree with you this comes down to cost, not loyalty.
“Cheap”? Or Frugal? Seems this manager is the reason Scott Walker isn’t the nominee. His campaign way overspent on the assumption that they were just going to able to rack in more donations. This is why I don’t contribute my hard earned $25 or $50 to the RNC or to national candidates.
I’ll accept “frugal” as a friendly amendment to my post.
mmm..Manaforts hair was kinda Dark!
