I can understand people who are frustrated with the general direction of things being attracted to Trump. He is saying all (or most) of the right things.
What I can not understand is conservatives who (still) support Trump, or Tea Party folks who support Trump. ESPECIALLY Tea Party people who support Trump. My goodness, the Tea Party is a movement of principle and intelligence – it is not loyal to party or person, only principle! And so, to see Tea Partiers embrace somebody who so does not embody their principles (except on Amnesty, Islamic terrorism and free speech), particularly when their dream candidate – the most ideologically aligned, principled, and steady-as-she-goes candidate to come close to the nomination in 40 years – is right up there in the top three, is just astounding. And quite disappointing.
What a missed opportunity if Republicans do not nominate Ted Cruz. But I think, in the end, they will.
Agreed, for the most part. Although I don’t think Trump is saying the right things, I think people are projecting what they want to hear onto what he’s saying.
I know plenty of Republicans who liked Trump early on, when he was plain talking and hammering the Left, but then he started hammering the good people on our side, talking about what he’d do, and acting like himself, and they dropped him due to how vile a lot of his opinions are.
I agree with you fully on the Tea Party, voting for Trump after he’s come out for PP, socialized healthcare and more? They are suddenly voting for the same behavior they voted against with Obama.
In my opinion, Cruz is the dream candidate, but I’ll take any candidate over Trump. He’s that bad.
Yay! I’m not suprised. Everywhere I go, I get compliments on my Trump button. I thank them and we usually briefly chat. These Trump admirers are usually men and frequently self-describe themselves as either “not into politucs” or Independent.
Sometimes I even give them a button and they’re very grateful and pleased.
Trump has them all fired up and they assure me they’ll come out and vote for him both in the primary and general.
